I'm about to fire up my D&D group after a few months break. I've just got Out of the Abyss which looks great, and I want to run it.
However, the PCs were previously in Phlan, and I was running some of the Tyranny of Dragons expedition scenarios for them. The characters are level 3 or 4. The players left the game with the PCs evacuating Phlan after the dragon, The Maimed Virulence, along with the Cult of the Dragon, attacked the town and took control of it. I'm happy to wrap up the Phlan adventure at this point.
Obviously the two stories are completely unrelated. Does anyone have any ideas how I can elegantly perform a story change and get the PCs into the Underdark, and onto the story in Out of the Abyss?
