Little tidbit about the Planar Hanbook

I got given a copy of the May-June WotC catalog yesterday, and noticed one little tidbit that hadn't been posted before (I don't think...)

'Key Selling/Marketing Points

Similar to the previously released Savage Species, this title includes new monsters and rules for playing those monsters as player characters.'

I wonder ift hey will do level breakdowns for +ECL creautres that would be useful for PCs? That's what it suggests to me...

It's about time they did the slaadi as monster classes. I don't know how good they are to play, but some folks just seem to like'em.

It's not like I was'nt going to buy it before, but now I want it even more. I just hope that if they do go the Savage Species way that they do it a little better.

Hmmmmm! Outsider PCs! This could be what prompts me to finally buying savage species, if I'll need the rules from that book. I meant to for a while, but the whole idea of "gain XP, grow two meters" holds me back. It's mechanically sound, but IMO it's conceptually stupid.

That's why I use Age Templates that add a Racial Hit Die (and its benefits) after a set amount of time.

I wouldn't worry about SS now. Nice tmeplates, but so much else changed post 3.5 that it probably won't be worth it. I suspect that the PH will ahve everythign we need.

Actually Olive, a significant portion of Savage Species was written with 3.5E in mind (no Beast type, Shapechanger as a subtype, altered skills, etc). So revision changes are minimal at most.

That said, I'm again getting my hopes up that this product A) Brings forth the remaining tanar'ri, baatezu, yugoloths, rilmani, eladrin, et al (not sure if there are any remaining archons or guardinals that need converting, and I know there aren't any modrons or slaad that do (slaad lords notwithstanding)). And, maybe even, get those poor gehreleths (demodands) and yugoloths updated properly to 3.5E. The way it is now, I can just see ultroloths getting laughed out of the Lower Planes compared to pit fiends and balors.
