Lizards' and Breathing/Oxygen?

I was also going to mention that lizards also have smaller brains that require less oxygen, but because your talking about lizard men I don't think that would apply here(well it could I suppose).

I've explained the Lizard men operating in cold climbs and with good oxygen supplies to the brain in two ways in the past

1. They are not lizards but warmblooded protoavians (ie dromaesaurs=Velociraptors) sans feathers (Tyranosaurs were Droms and have no sign of feathers)

2. They have a metabolism like the Great White Shark which although coldblooded is able to warm its blood through muscle action (and insulation)

Or you could treat the lizardmen like Saurials in other settings - basically humanoid dinosaurs. They could well be warm-blooded and live wherever they like.

Oddly enough, back in a now defunct campaign I had lizardmen as advanced dromaesaurs. Complete with feathers.

The nation in question were known as the Anza Sin. They dwelt in the Anza Borrego desert of Southern California and believed that one day a prophet would come and lead them to the land of beer and bison. (Carnivores, you know.)

In their own language they called themselves sin. Anza Sin were lizardmen of the Anza Borrego. According to their own legends the Anza Sin lived in sybaritic luxury up in the Sierra Nevadas, until they transgressed against their gods and were driven out into the desert when said gods sent humans, dwarfs, goblins etc. to punish the Anza Sin. As noted before, when the Anza Sin have cleansed themselves a prophet shall be born among them who shall lead them to the promised land. In this cast, coastal San Diego County. The last we heard from them the prophet had been born and was still a child. But the campaign ended before he could become of age.
