Are you trolling on a D&D board?

Are you making a thinly-veiled insult?

Honestly, Jack Chick may be a very nice guy

I think he's too unwilling to consider that he might be wrong for him to be what anybody might call a 'nice guy'.

but he is clearly misinformed about the nature of RPGs.

Until the supernatural is disproven, which, given the nature of the supernatural, won't happen by natural science, who's to say that Chick's tracts aren't true on some level or other?

Sure his (apparent) belief that gamers are consciously worshipping Satan is erroneous in almost every instance of gaming I've experienced, but who's to say that there aren't supernatural ramifications of the 'games' we play?

Yeah, I know, I failed my save vs. troll.

Seems more like you failed your save vs smugly-dismiss-contrary-opinion-as-troll. What next? You gonna invoke Hitler?

whoot. As a Costern's Robin Hood once said: "God loves wondrous variety."
Sides, according to Christian belief (I'm not one ;) but I have absolutely no problems with that system) God made humans in his image. He's a creator and gave folks imagination. If he didn't want us to imagine stuff, he wouldn't have made us in his image. :D So this guy is actually a wack-job using that particular system of belief to spread his insanity, which has absolutely nothing to do with the actual facts. ^)^

just my two cents.

I don't think that argument holds much water. God gave us the ability to kill people as well, right? Does that mean I should go around murdering people?

And dismissing someone because they don't know anything about a subject (D&D, for instance) and condemning it as evil without cause is definitely narrow-minded.

nope. doesn't mean you should go around murdering people, cuz, other people will generally get reeeeeaaal unhappy with you if you do. Naturally, they will seek to stop you.

Let's use some common sense here folks. and mebbe this thread should be closed cuz it's going into the realm of religion. and Granny doesn't like that....

Oh please, being fair minded is one thing, essentially saying epistomologicaly nothing can ever be truly be disproved, and thus all opinions are equal, is simply, well ridiculous.

Have you read further on that site? A man whom claims to have been an alexandrian mystical adept and satanist states that the PHB had "ritual" in it that were accurate to his alternate religous practices.

Further more he claims that TSR sent people to interview his wife to make sure that all the "rituals" contained within the books were accurate. This man also stated an ex employee of TSR said on the 700 club that there was management pressure to publish "ritual" as accurate and close to the 'real' thing as possible.

No TSR handbook I have ever seen has included details of rituals.
If you think this person's story is valid in terms of his statements regarding TSR, you could always ask Mr Gary Gygax, wether to his knowledge he sent anyone, or knew of anyone being sent from TSR to investigate and record Alexandrian and Satantic mystical rituals.

Hmmm, let's see.

  • Posted multiple times.
  • Bordering on religion.
  • Inspiring an argument.

I'd say those add up to "closed."
