Lonely Gamers Anonymous (a lament)

Hey Shadowslayer and other player-berift lonely gamers, I have a somewhat quirky suggestion for you that may find (or create) some gamers for you.

Take an old D20, hot glue a safety pin to it and then pin the die to your shirt front (a la tie pin style) or your jacket lapel.

Heh. I was figuring something along those lines already. Way I see it, if I get desperate enough, I'll do just that, but hang it on the rearview mirror of my school bus. Not too into playing with high school guys, but if that's the only choice....

To tell the truth, not long after this thread was originally posted, I managed to find a group. Its still a pretty new group, but I'm hoping it will pan out. We've got a full table anyway.

I admit I got really lucky. I'm involved with a great group here in Cedar Rapids, IA that meets once/2 weeks for a good solid 12 hour session (w break for dinner).. it's good enough that one guy commutes from Chicago for it (5 hours away), and I really lucked out being invited to it.. it was one of these "friend of a gamer friend" invite things, so likewise, you might want to keep your gaming network open.. never know what might drop in your lap!

(and this isn't a group of college kids, this is (with one exception), people in their 30s who have kids and all the rest.. but we commit to it, and it shows in the game)

But I'm also involved in a less-frequent and less interesting game too, so maybe it's just this area is more gamer-friendly.

For what its worth, I'm in a similar boat. I've gotten my fix by playing PbP on these boards. I've been playing over 2 years now. I've found some very high quality games, and the flexibility to fit into my hectic schedule. I don't think I could manage to commit to even two nights a month, but 15 to 20 minutes once or twice a day on my computer - heck yeah!

Works for me.
