This idea spawned froma Limited Wish topic over on the rules board. What spells are there with long (i.e. more than a full round) casting times that would be worthwhile to cast in combat if they could be done faster. Since we're talking about Limited Wish, I'd like to try to keep it to spells that could be duplicated with that, i.e. Sorcerer and Wizard 6th or lower and 5th or lower spells from other classes.
Please feel free to include any sources, although if it isn't core, we may want to give a short rundown of the spell itself.
For starters, Call Lightning could be useful.
[edit] I just double checked and realized only one bolt per 10 minutes, so I guess a 7th level slot and 300 xp isn't quite worth a single 10d10 bolt.[/edit]
