Looking for a good mapping program.

Thanks Auld Grump for the link to CC3, looks like I get a free upgrade from the CC2Pro. When I was purchasing this software I didn't see anything on Profantasy's main web page about a new software edition.
That's cos they've hidden the page away with no links! Also I don't believe the upgrade is free, just discounted. Hopefully someone can prove me wrong. :)

Hmmm, since the Fool over at Ancient Awakenings released his City tools for Fractal Mapper I have been using that a fair amount. It more than doubled my use of the program.
Would you care to give any links or perhaps even send me a copy of these tools?

For interiors I still use Dungeon Crafter. The old Dungeoncrafter site is now gone, but you can find it archived at Archive.org Gods the Archive.org site is useful.
Well, that link doesn't seem to work. But I was able to goto http://www.dungeon.gr to get a copy of the programme.

I purchesed the World Builder Bundle on May 12th. Per the CC3 web-page concerning upgrades:
Anyone who bought CC2 Pro in December 2005 will get a $15 voucher for a V3 Up
Anyone who bought CC2 Pro in January 2006 will get a $29.95 voucher for a V3 Up
Anyone who bought CC2 Pro on or after the 1st February 2006 will get a free V3 Up

I meet the 3rd requirement, by pure stupid blind luck (of the good kind).

With the last couple of patches, Dundjinni's speed has been much improved, but is still not great.

I've got all the patches, a pretty good PC and all Dundjinni does is cause my system to hang.

Funny, I used something very similar when I was working on the maps for Bastion Press and on Castlemorn. Never thought of starting with a blank slate like that and having everything ready to go, but I do have palettes on palettes of stuff like this in Photoshop. Cool idea...

It runs all right on my laptop, but nowhere near as fast as... well, just about any other drawing/mapping program I have.

AutoREALM - best bang for the buck. Well, actually it's free, but I find it better than anything else I've worked with.

I'll second that. I used to use Campaign Cartographer and have a number of their supplements, but I found the learning curve a bit steep, even with my relative familiarity with AutoCAD (which has some similiarities). AutoREALM is much easier to use, particularly for whipping up a simple dungeon and the price...well has mentioned free is pretty hard to beat.
