Looking for a good portable MP3 player

Anybody know any good portable MP3 player that is out there now? Nothing too high price tag but has good features and good amount of space for music. Thanks
How many songs do you want to carry with you?

Do you intend to store pictures? Videos?

Do you want an FM tuner?

Do you have a plastic to buy music online? Do you prefer to use download cards?

Good questions Ranger.

I went with the iPod 30 gig, because I wanted mostly a good music player with a small smattering of pictures and videos on the go. It seemed the controls for the other players was serviceable at best, clumsy at worst. Plus, I love the many iPod accessories available.

According to SanDisk that makes me sheep.

Baaaaaaaaa to them.

Bad to the OP, I'd stop by your local electronic store and try out the different models. They range in price from < $100 to >= $ 300. I would especially pay attention to the controls, find one that suits your needs.

Lastly, are you interested in downloading music? If want subscription music where you can take a personal radio station on the go, the iPod is out. If you just want to rip CDs any player can work. It just depends on the program.

Yeah very good questions... :)

How many songs do you want to carry with you? Not sure about since I like to listen to music while on public buses and trains. I listen too 2-3 cds.

Do you intend to store pictures? Videos? pictures not so much Videos, maybe

Do you want an FM tuner? not really...

Do you have a plastic to buy music online? Do you prefer to use download cards? yes for the first question, but do usually not and i have been to find music I want for free :), music is mostly soundtracks. The second part not sure about that.

I would suggest getting a 1 GB or smaller player, until you mentioned you want video.

You could go with ... grr ... iPod + iTunes. It's well-established (10 years now?) and can order video from it.

Or you could go with Zune, the new kid on the block. Screen is bigger than iPod's for watching video, even in widescreen mode.

PDAs do play MP3s, plus you can use SD or mini-SD cards (depending on the PDA) to add more space. But, doing so frequently would be inconvenient, unless you have your PDA on you all the time anyway.

If you are sure you don't need video, the Apple iPod shuffle is tiny and would easily be enough music for you. I am not sure the control on there (I think it's shuffle song mode only). The Nano is another option, but again, no video and the click wheel was too small for my big hands to use effectively.

Another choice would the Zen V players, they are tiny as well and Plus versions have video and a FM radio. The reviews on the controls was not kind, but try it out, you may like it.

Hmm, I don't think it going too far for me to say you are acting like a drama queen with that statement.
