Looking for a metamagic feat

I'm trying to find a metamagic feat, but I don't know the name and I'm not sure it exists. The effect of the feat is that you can create "safe zones" when you cast an area spell so that, for example, your fireball will scorch your enemies but leave your allies in their midst unharmed. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I was thinking it was Sculpt Spell, but that only changes the general aoe. Thanks if you can help me out!

I thought there was some more generally available feat as well, but the only thing I can currently find that does what you (and I) remember is the archmage prestige class, high arcana, mastery of shaping ability.

Sculpt Spell will usually be enough to do this.

Thanks Dandu, that's pretty much what I remember, though I'd thought it was for multiple spots. Maybe it was Mastery of Shaping of which I'm thinking. Sad to say, I can't remember the specific context so I'm not sure whether it was in fact a feat. But between the references I've got what I was looking for, so thanks all!
