looking for a module with command over a strike force/army whatever !

DL 8, Dragons of War, is another old module (1E, part of the original Dragonlance series), which has the PCs assist a small force of knights defend the High Clerist Tower against draconians, goblinoids, ogres, and dragons. There are a series of four battles, with the Dragonarmies growing in power each time.

Raising the morale of the knights is one important victory factor, as is exploring the tower (which has been off limits since the Cataclysm). Several artifacts lying within can turn the tide of the battle.

Thank you all for your good advice, I`ll check it out !

Just one further question:
Has anyone here played this swords of the iron Lgion thingy. Cause it sounds nice but i couldnt find any review on it.

Thanks in advance,
L.

The Dark Sun Module "The Road to Urik" has a nice battle where the characters are commanders of a scouting force that ends up in dire circumstances. If memory serves it could be played with the old AD&D 2nd edition tactical warfare rules (the name of that supplement escapes me). Sure it's tied into the Dark Sun campaign pretty heavily but could be rewritten for a non-desert environment.

Hi, some suggestions:

I just read X10 because I'm currently DMing the two prequels and thought about DMing this as well. It's very much a diplomacy adventure with lots of side trecks (which are in itself adventures.) I wouldn't advise you to play this, it's scope is too big for your needs.

What might work is UK3 - The Gauntlet Lv 3-5. In this adventure the party gets trapped in a small castle and has to defend it with the remnants of the old garrison against a small army.
The attack is fully planned out and last time I played it with the correct number of players and levels it was too hard, so it might be just what you're looking for.

FRQ2 was pretty bad (based on a read, not playing it) both in playability and in ties to the Realms.

aye, ye need to cut the meat into chum for feeding to the sharks. (translation: as written it is not good. but you can dissect to use parts scattered throughout your campaign)

I10 was pretty good, although it's not well integrated with the Realms either.

I 10 sucked. it was rife with errrrrrss. I 14 on the other hook cut a better jib than FRQ2. but it was very much like it in appearance.

X10 was very good, if I remember correctly, although it's been a long time. (It was for basic D&D, set in the world of Mystara.)

this be a true gem. worth more than all tur...3ed scat combined.

Could you specify what the Swords of the Iron Legion is about ?
What is it like ? You think it fits with my campaign ?

Could you please post what`s the Tenor of this Hordes of Dragonspear. You see my campaign is very down-to-earth, i really dislike this Portal Thing about Dragonspear. Is it an essential part ?

Thanks,
L.

avast...are ye players reading this?

i don't wish to spoil the riches if they be.

think ye of the long haul...so it is always there for suspense. but won't affect play until they are ready.

for the most part only feed the crew what they can handle. if you overindulge them they may mutiny.

and what do you think is better ?

Well it seems i have to buy one at svgames blindly.

So i am asking, which one is better: Hordes of Dragonspear or Swords of the Iron Legion ?

I14 has a BBEG on another plane manipulating the scene. ;) think very evil and very powerful. his minions are no pushover either.

it is better than Hordes.
