Looking For A Monster

First Post
I need some help. Sometime in the past, in a book that I can no longer remember the name of, there was a Clockwork Swordsman. If this monster sounds familiar to anyone, and you know the book it was in, please let me know. For some reason, I am thinking it was in a Forgotten Realms book. Thanks for the help.

Not the creature I was looking for, but that was in the book I thought I was looking for. Thanks for helping me narrow the search.

Clockwork swordsman was in one of the 2e Monstrous Compendium annuals; it's different than the nimblewright. You wound them up with a key and stuff, iirc. Is that the one you're thinking of? Haven't seen 3e stats for it.

I believe that is the one. Somewhere, there is a 3e version because it had been made into a sentient creature that had an ECL of +1. It's possible that the stats were accompanied by a color picture of the swordsman. It is also possible that there were a couple more clockworks on the same page. I have seen a clockwork warrior in the Tome of Horrors from Necromancer Games, but that isn't what I was looking for.

Hmmm. The only 'clockwork' creature in 3e appeared in the Tome of Horrors 1, Monster Manual 2 (Automaton and Clockwork Horrors) and in Advanced Bestiary which has a clockwork template. I think the Arcanis setting support clockwork creatures as well, but I can't remember which book.

Any of those what you're looking for?

I've checked the first three, but my group never really got into the Arcanis setting. I might have to fall back on the clockwork template and design one myself. Now that you mention it, I think someone actually did bring an Arcanis book to the game one night. Thanks for you help.
