Looking for a nation template

I'm trying to find some sort of template with lots of categories to describe a nation.

Something similar to the Forgotten Realms Adventures (hardback, 2e) book where the cities were detailed as two-page entries, with loads of categories to describe the details of each city.

Preferably something I can copy/paste but anything I can mine for ideas would be great.

Try this out. It's a city template, but should be able to adapt it with little to no trouble.

Heh, thanks, but that pretty much is the FRA entries, almost word for word, with a few LGG additions :)

I was looking for something a little more comprehensive.

Here is my realms template. I use this for everything from a hamlet to city to empire, or forest desert etc...you get the idea.

I also did a huge realms rules for dnd/saga. Basically it was a set up where you could use the realm similar to a character, but it became a bit too much for just background information.

I still use this template though. You may wish to delete the first 2 pages where the stats went. The rest I hope you find useful.

Cheers, C

Don't happen to still have that around, do you? I'd very much like to see where you were going with it, even if it's not finished.

Glad you like.

As I said I use the same format for every sized 'realm' be it forest, kingdom, hamlet.

The rules I did were complete (and even playtested). There were a few minor perks, but I gave up on it with the announcement of 4E. I am wondering whether it is worth rehashing the idea for 4E or just scrap and keep it as a heap of tables simply to generate 'background' for the campaign.

As it is, a realm is 'kind of' like a character and it gets 2 turns every season.

In one of my dnd campaigns I had the players actually play the realsm of the area for 2 years prior to the campaign and then I dumped their characters into the area...so the bigger mess they made the more turbulent the times. But at least EVERY character remembered and took an interest in the back story of the campaign area. It was very good.

(In a playtest, many characters just took it on themselves to war vs the others...some can't help themselves I guess ;)).

I am not sure what to do with the rather large manuscript (over several docs). If there is an interest I would like to publish it. At the moment it is a 3.5/Saga hybrid that we played leading up to end of 3.5. (Mostly 3.5 with trained skills at +5 [no skill points]).

Ah what to do, what to do....?
