Looking for a place to buy dice online

I get my dice straight from Chessex.

It might cost a bit more, but the service and turnaround time is EXCELLENT.

The opaque ones with contrasting colors for the numbers are much easier to read.

I prefer Chessex opaque, sharp-edged dice in contrasting colors...black with white, yellow with black, etc.

The rounded edge dice roll too much for me and while the 'ninja' dice is cool looking in the store's flourescent lighting, but once you get into a nice, shadowy dungeon, they are a bit hard to read.

(Yes, I've found my dice preferences have changed as I age...)

Same here... I used to have all sorts of pretty and fancy dice. I had a real hard time reading the numbers on most of them. Now all my dice are monochrome -- black/white, white/black, mottled black-grey/white, and mottled white-grey/black. My wife says they're boring, but I can read them from all the way across the table and no one else at our table has the same color schemes.

For Christmas this year I want to splurge and get myself a set of the Dwarven Metal minis.

Curiously, how did you order? Did you call it in? I found it interesting that Chessex doesn't have an online store.....

To the other comments, I think there are some great points. While there are some 'cool' looking dice, I think the more plain, more contrasting color schemes might be better too.

Thanks again for all the great comments! :D

Advancing Hordes www.ahdm.net have dice types and sizes you'd never have known existed e.g. d5, d7, d16, d24, etc., along with the usual suspects.

In general, though, you need lots of d6's, several d20's, and one of everything else.

The instructions are buried under customer service.

Try http://www.chessex.com/Customer Service/Order Form.htm.

While i do love Chessex and to a lesser extent Kaplow dice for me my all time favourites have to be Gamescience 'gem' dice. These have sharp edges and are clear. I have had one of their d20's for over 2 1/2 decades and it still looks brand new (it was the first die I ever bought for D&D). The advancing Hordes website linked to above has a very nice selection of gem dice.
