Looking for a PrC for a Barbarian

First Post
I'm starting up a barb for a campaign, this will hopfully be a long term game going from lvl 1 all the way to Epics levels. I'm a Half Orc Barbarian as follows;

Class: Barbarian
Race: Half-Orc
Lvl: 2

Scores
Str 20 (+5)
Dex 14 (+2)
Con 16 (+3)
Int 10 (+0)
Wis 10 (+0)
Chr 8 (-1)

HP = 30 / 34 (w/rage)
AC 17 = 10+5(Brestplate)+2(Dex Mod)
AC 15 w/ rage
Touch AC = 12 Flat-Footed AC = 15
Initiative = +2

Saving Throws
Fortitude = +6 / +8 w/ rage
Reflex = +2
Will = +0 / +2 w/ rage

Speed = 40 w/o Armor
30 w/ Armor

Bab +2

Attack
To Hit = +8 [5(str)+2(BAB)+1(MW Weapon)]
To Hit (Rage) = +10 [7(Str)+2(BAB)+1(MW Weapon)]

Damage = 1d12 + 7 (Great Axe)
Damage (Rage) = 1d12 + 10(Great Axe)

Critical X3

Gear:
Masterwork Great Axe
BreastPlate

Feats:
Power Attack

Abilities:
Darkvision
Orc Blood
Rage 1/Day
Fast Movement

Skills:
TBD

In the long term i eventually believe he'll end up as a lengendary Jugernaught (assuming he lives long enought to see it ;) ) but in the non epic i haven't seen any PrC that i like that barb orientend. I don't want Frienzed Berserker, i don't care how powerful they are, or the one from ToED (hes Chaotic Neutral.). Dont start rattling off a character build with a dozen classes and Prc, At MOST hes going to be 2 classes, a Prc and an Epic Prc, Thats it. Any suggestions with how i should develop him would also be welcomed.

We're starting off play in the Silver Marches in FR BTW

My Barbarian/Fighter/Rogue is headed for Tactical Soldier, from the Miniatures Handbook.

Throw in a couple of tactical feats from Complete Warrior and you can have a substantial effect on the shape of the battlefield. Since your character is above-average intelligence for a half-orc, perhaps he wants to use his brains to control combat, rather than just hacking things to pieces (not that there's anything wrong with that).

How about a non-prestigious complement?

Rogue levels work well with a barbarian. You give up a slight bit of BAB (which you have in spades), DR and rage for extra sneak attack damage, uncanny dodge, evasion, better skills, etc ...

Before considering it, I'd check with your DM on whether he'll allow rage and sneak attack to work together. The Sage ruled it did in 3.0, but reasonable arguments can be made on both sides of the argument. Regardless of any conclusions reached on the internet, what your DM decides is what will bind your PC.

My epic melee half-orc is barbarian 4/rogue 19. I think the character might have been more fun as a balance between barbarian and rogue, but the party needed more rogue abilities. He is *very* effective in melee combat, regularly causing more than 50 damage per hit with both of his weapons (when sneak attack damage is appropriate). He is also a blast to play.

I haven't looked at the tactical feats yet, i was thinking of a Spring Attacking, Cleaving, Big Damage numbers beast. Rogue might be a cood Idea, With Darkvision and a few levels of rogue, move silently and Sneak Attack i can see him being deadly. Maybe Barb with 2 levels each of rogue and fighter might be a good idea. I'll see how it plays out.

The Tribal Protector in Masters of the Wild is a good one (Wild Fighting is nice), tho its usefulness is limited if you aren't fighting your tribal enemy. I haven't read over the Complete Warrior as thoroughly as I'd like, but there may be something in there.

Hope this helps!

Spring Attack is not a bad idea, but at higher levels you are giving up full attacks, and for a barbarian that can mean a lot.

Rog2/Fgt2/BrbX works well. My character is not optimized, as there were strict multiclass restrictions at the start of the campaign.

The Bear warrior (from CW) makes an interesting prestige class. Being a barb is not a pre-req for the PrC, but the style definitely fits it well.
