Uncalled for... Foul...

Clark,

If you went back and reread my post you'll notice I edited my response. I had meant to say all of theos things are PI but in a brain cramp/dyslexic fugue state I inadvertantly said the complete opposite. I did read the PI and OGL paragraphs (in their itty-bitty print) and even mentioned in my post that AU is willing to talk about PI in other peoples work.

Your "Crack" comment was uncalled for. Just becaue I can't regurgitate the SRD/OGL verbatim doesn't mean I don't understand am unable to help out someone who is asking questions I'm asking myself and looking for answers. Your statement sir, was rude. Not so rude I'm going to cry about it, just rude enough that I feel it is necessary to remind you about civil discourse.

You were correct in my errors and corect in warning me of the potential harm that error could possibly cause, but your method was a bit crass.

I am one of many others that sees the OGL as as way to take the rpg world to a new level and I'm eager to be part of that. I understand the importance of getting it right, especially since it may be an OGL there is a BIg Brother and PI issues to always keep in mind. I just beg you sir to please refrain from scaring away those who make simple errors and perhaps if understanding the OGL is a cause you champion you should mentor yourself to those like me who want to know and understand so they can better serve the rpg community at large.

With Most Utter Respect,

Edwawrd J Kopp

Agreed; if you're not helping, you're potentially harming.

I contacted Malhavoc about the license; just waiting to hear back from them.

So, has anybody tried that Cover to Cover service from MEG? How is it, how much does it cost?

C2C works on an indivdual basis(depending on your needs) e-mail Doug at info@mysticeyegames.com and tell him what services you are looking for and we will see what we can do.

Ed Cha from OWP has used us BTW.

Ed,
In the paragraph above, you just stated you were on crack. :) Seriously read it.

How was he to know that he needed to look back up before he sent to know you corrected your post? Did it make the original post any less completely out in left field?

It might have been a pretty rude thing to say... but it makes it clear that in the course of an issue that can have legal ramifications (not only for the original creator of the PDF, but everyone down the road that read it) and you shouldn't take advice like that from anyone that wasn't thinking clearly.

Ed-

That sounds like crying to me :)

Ah, so the problem is my civility, not your inaccuracy. Interesting.

OK, lets try it more civily:

"In my humble opinion, and I mean no disrespect and say this with all civility, the previous poster, though he may have good intentions, has no freaking clue what he is talking about."

How was that?

We cant read minds to "know what you meant to say."

I stick by my main point: there are huge legal ramifications here and people shouldnt willy nilly toss their uninformed opinions around about what is OGC and what isnt. Similarly, people shouldnt rely on people on the internet about what is and isnt OGC. The tone of my voice was perhaps less an indictment of you than a strong urging that this is important and that people should not rely on the internet, the land of the uninformed opinion.

Clark

Sir,

It takes far more than being called a Crack Head to make me cry. In as polite a manner as I know how I am merely pointing out that I recognized my mistake, immediately corrected and agree that it's importnant to understand the legal ramifications of the OGL. If you feel retracting and correcting my mistake and pointing out that there are far more polite was to discuss such matters than in a slanderous manner is crying, I must politely disagree.

If instead you pointed out my error, the severity of it and the exact 180 ass backwawrds way I posted the interepretation with out the personal attacks, that seems a mores civil way to conduct a discussion and perhaps help another person come to understand the OGL as masterfully as you seem to. You were unduly harsh and that's the truth.

I think the name "Andrew Smith" might be WotC PI because that's the name of the guy who handles the SRD for them. But I could be mistaken...

:D
