Jemal: Only current problem I can see with Kurita is that he doesn't meet the prereqs (Int 13+) for Combat Expertise. Also, I don't believe that technically you should be able to select Stunning Fist as your second-level bonus feat... This is easily rectified by taking Stunning Fist-Deflect Arrows-Improved Trip as your monk bonus feats, and then taking Improved Grapple external to that (you certainly meet the prereqs). In addition, while I'm okay with mixing weapon kata and Bonded weapon, they weren't really designed to fit together well. If you're going to use it, be sure to note it under Special Abilities, as Bonded Weapon (Staff, minus proficiency Nunchaku) or whatever proficiency you're giving up. However, I'll note that the two options weren't really designed to be compatible, and it results in some odd situations (if you trip during a round, you can't utilize weapon kata or weapon focus during that round; if you utilize weapon kata, you can't deflect arrows with the staff). In re-evaluating the way the presented options work, I realized that most of the feat sequences designed to recapture the functionality of an unarmed strike ended up being a bit too costly, so how about an alternate Kata feat progression: Weapon Kata Prereqs: Monk level 6+, Weapon Focus (selected weapon) Benefit: Choose one monk weapon (any weapon that can be used for a flurry of blows). The damage die used for this weapon is now equal to the unarmed damage die of a monk of five levels lower than your own, and the weapon may be used to make trip attacks. Improved Weapon Kata Prereqs: Monk level 9+, Weapon Focus (selected weapon), Weapon Kata (selected weapon) Benefit: The damage die used now improves to the unarmed damage die of a monk of three levels lower than your own, and the weapon may be used to deflect arrows, if you possess the feat. Add any enhancement bonuses the weapon possesses to your Reflex save when deflecting arrows. And for the future: Greater Weapon Kata Prereqs: Monk level 12+, Weapon Focus (selected weapon), Weapon Kata (selected weapon), Improved Weapon Kata (selected weapon) Benefit: The damage die used now improves to the unarmed damage die of a monk of one level lower than your own, and the weapon is always treated as a Ki Focus weapon in your hands. In short, it's a progression of three feats which eventually makes a weapon almost as powerful and versatile as your unarmed strike, but allows it to be enchanted. Of course, things that you just can't really use a quarterstaff to do (grapple, snatch arrows) don't really fit into this system... If you prefer this system, I'd suggest trading out Snatch Arrows to make way for Improved Weapon Kata, and possibly losing the Ki Focus on your quarterstaff, if you don't mind waiting til twelfth level to regain that functionaltiy.
