Looking for adventures with large caverns.

Oryan77

Adventurer
I'd like to run an adventure located in Pandemonium. I know there are tons of dungeon crawls that I could use & stick them in Pandemonium, but I'm interested in doing encounters inside open/large caverns.

Anyone have any suggestions? The adventure could be from any edition and any level (I can adjust it). I just want to get some ideas and possibly some use out of some cool maps :p

I keep coming back to the same answer, but it always seems to be true. Night Below might be exactly what you're looking for

I actually considered running parts of book 2 for a previous dungeon crawl. But then I came up with my own material.

I didn't look at my Night Below maps very much. Which book would you suggest I refer to first?

From the classics...

S4 - Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth (particularly appropriate due to there being many otherplanar creatures in the module, and also due to a sense of "legendary artifacts sealed away from mortal knowledge for countless years")

D1 - Descent into the Depths of the Earth (I'm thinking the troglodyte warrens rather than the kuo-toa city... it's basically a single huge cavern; also, I think there are some bugbear lairs present, which is useful given Hruggek and other bugbear deities are traditionally placed in Pandemonium)

Night Below, sure... but most parts of it don't really feel like Pandemonium. Kuo-Toa and Aboleth aren't that suitable, so it becomes a matter of cherry-picking some of the "lost tombs" regions.

Several Planescape modules have interludes set in Pandemonium. Dead Gods, for example. Also Doors to the Unknown. The latter has at least two short modules which would be suitable (one set in Pandemonium, and the other in an Acheron junkyard that could also be easily adapted to a single large cavern).

Dead Gods, for example.[/b]This is what I'm actually running and I'm looking to add fillers to the Pandemonium chapter :p

Also Doors to the Unknown.
I also read over chapter 2 in this earlier today and did consider using it. But I wasn't all that impressed so I posted here for more ideas. I think I am going to use one of the adventures from the Planes of Chaos boxset, but it's going to be more of a side adventure & that's only if the PCs decide to do it.

I'll check out D1, I don't think I've read that one yet. I remember reading S1 a year ago cause I thought about using it since it's a classic. But it didn't really get my juices flowing and I changed my mind.
