Too true. I like yours as it is easy to customize, but can't justify spending the money on it when Timpani is also easy (though yours is more so) to add stuff to.

I've worked very hard to make it the easiest character sheet available, and your testimony is in line with part of the feedback I have received (http://TheOnlySheet.com/feedback.htm)

Although one of the major strength of the Sheet, 'ease of use' is only one reason people register the Sheet [based on their feedback] - Evidently, it's not given to everyone to be able to afford tools like this, so it's excellent that free sheets are available!! (in the exact same manner that alternatives to most software exists)

No worries. I have no interest in converting my products to a paid model (unless, of course, WoTC wants to recruit me ). I enjoy providing my sheet to the community for free, and like the idea of reaching the broadest audience (hence PDF)... though donations are always nice.

I'm just curious to see how a shareware product does in a largely free market like there is for character sheets.

Long time no talk !!

Hey I just saw you're in Ottawwa ! Just a 'stone throw' away from me (in Montréal) !! (ok ok.. a cloud giant's throw ) - Small world!

The Shareware model is doing pretty good - There is a steady flow of registered users - I won't go into number, some of them join the Mailing List (which is available ONLY to registered users)

I noticed that as the Sheet gets better & better, the number of new users per month steadily increases - Mind you I'am not getting rich (I get the equivalent of less than a dollar per hour - so yes, I'd get more working at McDonalds) - but I do it mostly for the community. I get loads of nice comments from the Users - and many came forth to help me improve it!! (the Stat page has gotten help from an accedited RPGA DM - and it became amazingly precise & concise for Game Masters!) I recently opened up a Testimony section in the Feedback area of the HomePage to place longer emails I receive about the Sheet.

To be honest, I'am actually STILL very surprised how well the Sheet has been received in the year since I started this little project! When I first posted it, I *never* imagined it would attract so much attention - I initially though $15 (a night out at the movies with the Girl/Boyfriend) was a high cost, but all the registered users tell me it's a steal for all they are getting - plus the future updates !!

So I'am going forward with updates and new improvements - for some obscure reason, my 'Things to do' list is getting longer and Longer !!

I need to make a 12th level character (for Oriental ADventures). I'm going to play a sorceror/rogue with a homebrew PrC class somewhat similar to the arcane trickster.

I'm looking for a character sheet which would help me do some of the math but be flexible enough for a character with 7 levels in a unpublished prestige class. Something maybe that autocalculates skill bonuses and a few other basics.

I've tried a few but nearly all the one's I've seen are limited to stuff in hte SRD and perhaps a few other D&D sources.

Any ideas?
