Looking for info about Yaravindar Ipurnos

Zarnam

First Post
On the WoTC Boards there is a discussion about the most powerful wizard of faerun (mooooot IMO, but whatever...). In one of the recent posts I spotted a certain wizard- Yaravindar Ipurnos (LN male Imaskari human conjurer 28/rogue 3/archmage 5) of the Violet Spire, that supposedly appers in one of the articles in Dragon 349 ("The Hordelands" I guess, but I could be wrong of course:p). Since I do not have that issue, could someone be so kind and spoil me any additional info on him ??

I'll be one very, very happy DM indeed :D

Not really much on him. I don't have the magazine in front of me but what I recall is as follows.

His origins are from the time of the Imaskari Empire. He was used life extending magics to remain alive to the present time. He was the apprentice of (don't recall name) who teleport himself and his apprentice to the location of the Violet Spire (article doesn't say but I have inferred that the Violet Spire must already existed, else why teleport to that location). The master returned to the Imaskari Empire and didn't return (presumed dead in the final fighting before the empire falls). Yaravindar decides to track down his master and finds the empire destroyed and no trace of his master. He collects what items and artifacts that he can and returns to the Violet Spire. He is reclusive but will trade with the Tuigan for any Imaskari relics and items bought to him.

Violet Spire is described as a typical Imaskari mage abode - namely no windows or doors so entrance is by portals. Interior is also typical Imaskari by being extradimensional (ie. the interior areas is larger than the exterior dimensions suggest. The location of the Violet Spire is on the east shore of the Great Ice Sea in the Endless Wastes.

That is about it. Not much. For what it is worth.

Wow, thanks, that is in fact quite interesting :)

If you have some spare time, could you check who was he apprenticed to ??

He was apprenticed to Ondbiras. Ondbiras doesn't ring a bell with me as I don't recognize the name so I don't think he was one of the Imaskari elite.

Correction of my previous post. The site was a 'safe' house during the fall of Imaskar and Yaravindar constructed the Violet Spire using enslaved elementals after he discovered that Imaskar fell. The Violet Spire is protected by a host of elemental and Imaskari constructs.

Clarification on the location - it is in the western foothills of the Glittering Spires mountains and on the eastern shore of the Great Ice Sea on its southernmost bay.

Yaravindar holds onto the old Imaskari beliefs of human superiority and holds the gods in contempt. He doesn't have slaves of his own (considers them too much trouble) but doesn't see any problem with using subjugated people (typical of the Imaskar beliefs of the time).

Hope that helps.
