Looking for interesting magic shields & staves

There's only a couple magic shields & staves in the DMG that I actually like. I'm looking for something with more unique functions than just "it casts this spell".

Can anyone suggest magic shields & staves from other WotC books that have qualities that will make the players say, "Hey, that's different, I like it!"? Something that will make the players feel unique for owning it.

BTW, the cheaper the better. Price range would be 12k & under

Your best bet might be designing one yourself, as per the rules in the DMG.

Else- just add some cool effects to the various staves... rods seem along the lines of what you're describing too.
