Looking for min/maxing resources

MithrasRahl

First Post
Our DM has created a world that requires us to power-game to the max just to stay alive, and I've never actually looked into creating a perfectly min/maxed character. Does anyone know of any online resources I could look into, or would my best bet be to read as many core books as I can, and then ask for suggestions here? Thanks in advance.

First, you need acess to a lot of books. The more the merrier. It seems as if your DM doesnt care whether something is broken, so heres a thought :

All non spellcasters take the saint template for only +2 LA.

Someone make a sorc and go into the warmage PRC from dragonlance : age of mortals. In its un-errataed form, at level 5, you can grant your cha mod as a morale bonus to AC for 3 allies within 30 ft, and do +3 damage per damage dice, and wear mithral chain shirts with no spellcasting penalty. If you have any more levels, take the forceweaver from path of magic, at level 5 you can pretty much ignore energy resistance as you gain the ability to substitute force damage for energy damage.

Then someone make a wizard with lots of utility spells. I dont think any PRC lets you make a broken utility wizard though.

Fighter......you might want to have one uber tank with frenzied berserker.

Oh btw if your DM really, REALLY allows -everything-, someone give him the link to the wizards board........the Pun-Pun thing. Divine minion kobold. That is the most beardy abuse of rules i have ever seen.

Something along the lines of "I enlarge my familiar who uses manipulate thingy on me to increase my BASE strength PERMANENTLY to 36 then i repeat the process to gain infinite strength!".

And if something has been updated that you find that your dm has not found (i.e. the new eratta of the spell makes it worse, but he didn't notice) don't tell your DM. You didn't notice either.

See if he'll let you be a paragon from the epic level handbook....

You can't get to Pun-Pun right now because of gen-con weekend, but it's here:

You need Serpent Kingdoms, for the sharuuk, and complete divine I think....

re:

The way it's working is we start at level 1, but we'll be gaining 2 levels or so a session, and maxing out at 20. I've got access to the PHP, Complete Arcane, Divine, Warrior, Adventurer, Planar, Races of Stone, Destiny and Wild.

O - kay!

As opposed to being a liar and a sneak, which the above approach would make you in some people's opinions (mine, for example), here's a novel idea - be completely upfront with your DM about your particular character concept and its abilities. In my experience, a DM is going to be a whole lot more receptive to your character if you say, "This is what I created, and this is what it can do. I'm letting you know so that you can tell me if you're okay with it, and maybe work with me if you're not."

Considering how many potential character types there are out there, I'd suggest coming up with a particular concept, posting it here, and asking people for ways to take that concept and make it really powerful.

Remember: he's not your DM. Don't listen to him.

Really though, you need to do the opposite of what I said: make sure all your crap is up-to-date. Check the spell compendium and the complete books to see if your spells and whatnot have been changed. Generally, if your DM lets you do whatever, it's your job to make sure it's up to date.

Having this conversation sucks:
DM: Hey I was reading through X book, and it changed Y spell, feat, skill, etc to do Z.
Player: Oh. I didn't bother to read that book...
DM: Well that would have turned out differently

and then everyone feels lame. You only have about 10 books to work with so it's no biggie, but my group plays with about 30+ books to draw from and this sort of thing makes for havoc.

if hes letting you min max, heres a few ideas

this will probably be a sell out, but last night i developed a 10 level PrC that grants the equivalent wizard progression as ur priest does for divine spells.
the prereques are the same, so take like four levels of rogue or something to get you the prereques for both, take two levels of ur priest and my class then hit the prereq for mystic theurge, and youre in. inside of 16 levels youve got 2 9th level spells. thats a lot of min maxing. if you can get ahold of the unearthed arcana, roll up a gestalt something or other.
in addition to the saint template, id suggest voluntary poverty. its a LG alignment like saint, but the benefits are retarded good.
we kinda sit around and try to figure out ways to min max stuff. i could run on for hours.
let me know if you want the PrC ive got for the arcane equivalent ur priest, and i can email it to you or something. ill be checking this in about 10 or 12 hours, so youve got time to respond.
if i think if anything else, ill definatly update the post.

Well...what kind of concept do you want to min/max? Do you have a race or class in mind?
