Looking for old clip art collection PDF

I know the exact item you are talking of.

How?

'cause they lost another sale from me for the very same reason.

I know of another person who didn't purchase it because there was no demo. Couldn't even find any information for the product on their website, which I had to use Google to find.

OK, that's for the info, I have e-mailed rpgnow.com a jpg demo at lo res for the potential buyer to see. My question is the demos for Ronin Arts are on the initial page just as my image of the rope art is.....what am I doing wrong then?

For a demo, upload it to your website, then post the link. Once you have the product up and ready for purchase, there's a place to put the link for the demo.

Quick comments:

Kiln: Your projected formats sound very good. Go for it.
Yes, please include a demo with thumbnails. Watermarks are OK, as long as we can see what is included.
I think I am also speaking of the same product as everyone else here in saying that it lost my sale because it had no demo.

Looking forward to your releases!

Usually for art collections, the demo will be a PDF with the thumbnails, or a JPG with all the thumbnails. Having the demo on your site works fine as well. Be sure to note it on the product page so people can surf over to your site to check out the demo.

kiln publictaions, I just thought I'd offer a bit of honest feedback.

When you first came to the conclusion that you might be able to sell filler art, you quoted 75 images for $5. Then you mentioned 25 for $2.50. Either of these would have been fine. However, you end up offering 1 picture (of a piece of rope) for $3.50. If I were desperate for an illustration of a piece of rope, I just might consider buying it, but not otherwise.

Doing single pieces of art is fine - but these should be action pieces or scenery, etc. That is, substantial pieces. Rope should be confined to packs of filler art - you know, where we started with all this. Given all the feedback you've received from the good people of enworld, I have no idea how you have ended up so far away from anything that they suggested.

Oh well. I can only wish you the best and future success.

I understand you point and it is well taken, however after seeing how much time and effort I am putting into each piece that is why I thought of going this route. My images are detailed and I hope of a very high standard. I would love to put out a 25 for $5.00 pack BUT at the same time I see on rpgnow.com several artists having images for individual sale. I apologize if I upset anyone with the switch. At this point I will go through with the 25 for $5.00 pack equpment and or weapons and would hope no one holds this againt a new publisher just as myself! If I do however do scenery or characters they will be for individual sale.

Yes, there are artists with single images for sale. I should also note that there are many clip-art collections for sale as well.

As has been mentioned, these are usually more detailed/involved than a piece of rope, and aren't as use-specific.

For the record, I have purchased nearly every clip-art collection. I have not purchased ANY of the single pieces. First of all, I think they are too expensive (why pay $10 for one image when I can pay $5 for 20 images?) and second (and probably more importantly), I find the usage rights granted on the single-shot pieces to be (WAY) too restrictive.

*shrugs* I know it takes time and talent to create art - and that's what is being paid for - but considering that I can commission a quarter-page for $20-40 and get exclusive rights to use it (rather than being just "one more person using that image") AND get it done to my own specifications, I find a piece of spot art (as the rope is) that is not exclusively licensed to be worth considerably less. The single images you mentioned are not attractive for the same reasons - for the cost of 2 to 4 of these images, which may or may not be quite what I'm looking for and with a lot of restrictions on my use and the chance that they'll appear elsewhere as well, I can go commission one of my own with NO restrictions on use and that is exactly what I'm looking for.

Not trying to bash or be rude - it's a nice piece - but try to consider things from the potential buyer's perspective as well (I don't think the other "single piece" listings have done that, and given that I haven't seen them even on the top 100 non-RPG things on RPGNow, I'm guessing they're not seeing much in the way of sales, though I could be wrong).
