Star Wars uses a reasonably functional Reputation system (a level-based Reputation score, boostable by feats), where your reputation can give you bonuses (or penalties, depending on the situation) to your Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate, Gather Info, etc, rolls. The Hero's Guide has a handy Sympathy mechanic (also available on the Wizards website) that can be used to keep track of when a PC is perceived differently by different factions.
