Wererat is indeed a good template for a rogue, and would fit nicely into your theme, i second this one(only issue is the alignment change).
Weretiger on the other hand is neutral, so might fit in better with the party and combat wise is a holy nightmare.
The 50% templates(half somethings) like half-fiend, half-celestial, half-dragon all are fairly reasonable and add alot of flavor to the character since their race changles there appearance fairly dramaticly. They also provide 2 major things-stats, roleplaying hooks for the dm and you to use to advance the stories plot. Since your half of some other major race(outsiders or dragons) then you enable your dm to legit-like have those races involved with your group vs just as an encounter.
