Ok a read a feat at some point in my vast collection of D&D books and now I have no idea what it is called or what book it is in… but I need it.

The feat lets you replace your strength modifier with your dexterity modifier damage rolls with melee weapons.

I thought it was in a WoTC book but I might be wrong... any help would be great!

(don't know if i'm allowed to do this but) check out crystalkeep.com. They have a pdf file with pretty much every feat (among other things) that have been published so far. You'll probably be able to find your answer there.

Heroes of High Favor: Elves by Benjamin Durbin and Bad Axe Games. It's called Improved Weapon Finesse. Or at least that's the version I have. I'm sure that there are a lot of variations on the concept.

Weapon Finesse allows you to use your Dex mod in place of your Str mod for attack roles, but not damage rolls, and even then only on some (primarily light) weapons.

It's a core feat, so you'll find it in the phb.

Of course, that's not the answer to the question he asked. He asked about a different feat, that allows the Strength modifier to be replaced by the Dexterity modifier for damage rolls, not attack rolls. I believe that a feat like that was in Dragon several months back, but I cannot remember which one.

The feat you are looking for is called "Improved Weapon Finesse". I used it myself for one of my characters. I beleive it is in the Swashbuckling Adventure's book. So it's not Core 3.0/3.5.
