Loot [HELP!]

So,

How do you treat Rogues trying to loot from the party after a battle? Lets say a battle ended and one tried to loot the bodies without being noticed by the others in the area? How do you adjudcate it? Spot vs. Pick Pocket? Since 3E doesn't have a facing in combat, does everyone get a spot check when a rogue is trying to loot a body without being noticed? Do you drop out of combat initiative and start a loot initiative?

Thanks

How do I deal with them? Karma. :)

There's unforced karma, when the rogue bites it because the fighter was ill equipped and couldn't protect the rogue.

There's subtle karma, when the fighter or wizard note that the rogue has suddenly aquired more wealth or gear than he should have been able to afford.

Then there's direct karma, when the rogue is the target of other npc rogues since he's the one with the goods.

Or I guess you could live and let live.... But what's the fun in that? :D

I was looking for more of a game mechanic way of doing things. You are absolutely right though, karma does win out.

Spot vs. Pick Pocket and yes, every PC within range gets to make the check. Worse, they get to make the check for each individual item the thief lifts off a dead body. So if the thief tries to take the corpse's ring, bracers, and belt, that's three opposed checks (each vs. all party members' Spot rolls,) to avoid being discovered.

Our group had a rogue who picked the unconscious party members... :D

Well... the group was shocked as the group cash wasn't able to buy a new bow for the rogue since it was 3 times as expensive as they would have been able to buy and the rogue simply paid the rest from his "private" treasury...

Your rogue is lucky he wasn't playing in my last campaign. We were all very aware of our magic items. If my fighter/mage had woken up and found his Belt of Giant Strength +4 missing, the rogue would have gotten a Polymorph Other: Chicken up the arse. :D
