Lost 3/2/05

"I am spire" was a great line for Hurley. ;)

'spry' I believe. And he was - that was one mean looking hunk of wood coming at him!

Great episode and I missed the first 20 minutes! (gonna catch it on the satelite at 10pm). Hurley impressed the heck out of me. Go big guy!

What was the deal with the battery? My local ABC station did not have any voice up until Hurley picked up the number sheet right before the opening "LOST". So I missed the whole exhange between everyone before that.

I love the fact that more than likely Hurley is Locke's boss. And my second favorite line behind "I'm spry."

"I own a shoe company???"

Cool episode, Hurley is a great character.

I loved Hurley and Charlies reaction to being shot at :D It was funny, and also realistic.

Hurley had a number of good lines (he always seems to), but I especially loved his rant about him just going with the flow of the rest of the group, but not understanding why people aren't looking for the "pissed off giraffe" monster etc. ;)

WayneLegion, good catch about the box company and Locke, I didn't notice that one.

Too bad we have to wait a month for the next new episode :(

Roughly...

The battery was sort of a request for the people leaving on the raft. They mentioned that it would be difficult for ships to spot their raft, so wanted to have something that that they could use for a signal or beacon.

Jack responded that Sayid could probably come up with something, but that it didn't matter because they were out of batteries.

156 million dollars? I expected it to be far more.

I mean, we heard it was a "near record lottery amount." In the US we have had lotteries up into the $300 million dollars. Now subtract taxes and such, you'll get about half that... so 156 million holds up.

But we heard from his accountant that in 2 months after his winning his assets doubled. I figured he should be at least worth $300 million+ before he revealed his net worth to Charley...

Okay... it's just a nitpick. ;)

Think we might hear something more about the Vancouver Canada company Hurley owned which had its building burn and kill 8 employees?

Heh!

It looks like a previously crashed plane.

I didn't get that impression myself. It seems to be made of heavy boiler plate rather than lightweight sheet metal. It also looks welded rather than riveted together with too many flat sides and edges to be a plane's fuselage. I'd guess that it's the top of some kind of underground bunker or bomb shelter seeing how solid it looks. But what it really is, is Pandora's Box...

What I thought was interesting was that Rousseau didn't seem to be aware of it since she told Hurley that she didn't know where the numbers came from.

The episode was fun to watch as I tried to predict what bad luck was going to befall Hurley next. As soon as I saw his mother's new house I knew it was going to burn to the ground, though I didn't expect his mother to break her ankle or the cops to suddenly show up and arrest Hurley for no discernable reason. It also suddenly dawned on me half way through that Hurley was likewise the reason the plane split into three parts at 30 000 feet in the first place. IT'S ALL HURLEY'S FAULT. Who could have predicted that? :D

I don't know if Hurley has a death wish but man he was pretty brave. Still really doesn't explain I was a warrior thing, yet.

I don't think it was so much a death wish thing... but i think he was just giving into the whole situation..

Everyone who had their lives cursed by the numbers lived and everyone around them dies. (i.e. the australian guy, when his wife told the story of the car crash, the guy left with "barely a couple scratches" and she lost her leg). So I think Hurley figured that he was going to be safe regardless (the curse just hurts others).

As for the hatch - i don't think it looks like a plane either -- don't know, just didn't seem like it to me (but really, I don't know).

Okay, a local Amber Alert kicked on right as Hurley is badgering the "Connect Four" guy in the hospital, cutting off the show. Then the show came back on as they were setting up the scene in Australia where he meets the widow. What happened in between?
