LOST 5-10-2006 "?"

Erm... why would Michael have shot himself in the arm before killing Henry, if that was his plan. I mean, the guy's dumb and all, but not that dumb. Henry is clearly alive, and Michael's whole plan was to free him.

To make it look like it was a life and death struggle and he had to shoot Henry in order to protect himself. They've already done the 'shoot yourself to aid an escape' thing already (Sayid shooting himself to aid in the escape of Nadia.) I would hate to see them just going back to the same old bag of tricks.

Was that the first time we saw Libby at the Australian airport? I know some people were thinking in other threads she might have been an Other.

Yes, to my knowledge this was the first time.

So what about the rest of the episode? I like the new hatch, I like Locke losing more faith, and that he admits he is pathetic. At least he knows.

Oh, she's definitely an Other.

The Psychic is part of the Hanso Foundation as well. They needed Eko as a strong moralizing force on the island, so they concocted a deep lie in order to cement Eko's faith. And notice how Libby shows up just in time to make sure the young lady doesn't accidentally mess up her story?

What other main characters didn't get a flashback episode? Rose, but that was clearly because of scheduling problems, and she finally got one this season. No, they wouldn't just kill off Libby without at least some hint to her backstory, unless her backstory would give away too much.

Sure, there's the whole "Got hired for another show" claim, but, um, why would she have been looking for another show if they weren't planning to off her in the first place? I can see killing off Ana-Lucia prematurely, sure, but Libby I don't buy. She was another plant. She probably was a psychiatrist, got recruited, went insane when she saw Great Cthulhu under the island, then was rehabilitated and brought back in on the project.

Well, anyway, next week looks like a Michael flashback episode (have we had one yet this season?). That leaves us with one more episode thereafter before the end of the season, right?

So, it is confiirmed it was a double blind or whatever the technically term for that is experiment. The people being watched didn't know it, and the people doing the watching didn't know the reasons they are. And it had a 1980 date on it. Anyone create or ever see a time line of events?

Whoever is doing the real watching (the people the notes would be sent to) should be somewhere on the island I'd think. Of course that could be abondoned to but it seems like one couldn't have one of those suction tubes that connects the island to something else.

Also in the film, there was mention of once their 3 week observation was done, they could take a ferry back to X (I didn't catch where).

Also... The important part is that the people in the hatches feel like what they are doing is important... What if "the Others" were told (and feel) that capturing "Good" people is important?

Ya, the film obviously was meant to obiscate the name of the place the ferry goes to. A few things were like that, so proper nouns and such we'll have to wait on.

If one group was supposed to gather up good people, then from where? the other groups being monitored? The film on a group just has basic exercises, no real clue as to what whatever group that was supposed to do.

Also, if there is a ferry, there very well could be some type of docks somewhere. Why no one has traveled around the island by now is beyond me.
