SF author Robert Heinlein’s first novel For Us, the Living: A Comedy of Customs is due to be published for the first time in January. Other Heinlein books include: Starship Troopers, Stranger in a Strange Land, etc. Interestingly, rather than espousing the right-wing (some would say fascist) political philosophy of his later novels, it was writen before he "changed from a soft-headed radical to hard-headed radical, a pragmatic libertarian".
One of the ideas it's based around is that of a Basic Income - an income paid by the state to every citizen - which is currently being kicked around in some circles as idea for welfare state reform. It's kind of hard to classify politically - it's popular with some socialists, and in some left-wing (what American's would call "liberal") circles, but thinkers like Milton Freedman have also spoken in support of it.

I'm not trying to start a political flamefest, I understand most the labels above are pretty loose. But particularly with Heinlein, and particularly with how the new book is supposed to differ from his later work, I thought this was worth flagging.
Rediscovering unpublished books seems to be all the rage at the moment, interestingly Hitler also has a previously unpublished second book (on European geopolitics) being issued for the first time.
