Lost Mithril (B4cchus judging)

LogicsFate said:
With a nudge of her shoulders Ligaea takes flight, carefully finding a perch closer to the sounds. Elise cautiously approaches the noises, holding up her lit crossbow bolt like a torch. The wizardress is visibly shaken.

As Elise approachs the source of the sound with her magicly lit crossbow bolt, she feels increasing apprehension as she cannot make anything out except for the vague shapes of the natural landscape. Nearly simultaneously two things happen: A movement catches the attention of Ligeia about 20 feet ahead, and nearly 15 fifteen feet to the left of Elise the sound of swords being unseathed is heard.

This unnatural sound carries over the encampment, stirring the others from their rest. (You all made the listen check to wake up. You are awake and aware of the sound, but are prone.)

Initiative:
Krit
Elise
Gilanthus
Cesurius

(I will post your opponent's place in the initative order when you become aware of their number)

[sblock=OOC]LogicsFate and Sirhahn, when your character cast a spell, please post a list of the spells you have prepared for the day, with the spell you have cast struck out. Example[/sblock]

Krit, after hearing the sounds of drawn swords. Belts on his rapier, slings his quiver of arrows across his shoulder and grabs his bow. "Elise whats going on? Are you ok?" Calls out foolishly giving away his position. He gazes around, looking for the source of the sound.

[SBLOCK=OOC] Krit makes a Spot check and if he can see the light of Elise's crossbow he'll head towards that. [/SBLOCK]

During the walk...

Gilanthus inquires of Elise, Elise, if I may, how came you to focus on one school, do you not miss the study of all the arcane mysteries. I for one see them as notes in a hamonious melody or chapters in a well written prose. Take any bit away, and does not the whole suffer?

Interesting tale, Cesurius. Indeed greed seems to be the downfall of many a ma...., Gilanthus pauses when he notices Krit and Elise raise their eyebrows, ...er, person.

[sblock=OOC]SD, I assume that when in combat (or in potential combat) you want us to wait and post only in initiative order, correct?
Also, during the week I can usually only post during the evenings.

"Elise whats going on? Are you OK?"

When she identifies the sound of swords, Elise drops her bolt and resists the urge to step back. Rather she steps toward the sound. Reaching into her belt as so many time before she produces a pinch of colored sand, weaves a quick arcane word, but pauses till she can identify her attacker.

Actions-(Drop bolt[free], 5 ft readjustment towards sounds of swords 'bout 15' away. Ready casting of color spray, First guy to attack her gets a face full, plus hopefully at least one guy behind him. 15' cone.

:o I meant dancing lights, forgot I prepared that instead, It won't change much, except I have a brighter selection of objects than I had, I can move them with my thoughts, and it only last for a minute. If you wanted, you could just have my light spell blink off after a minute.

0- Detect Magic, Dancing Lights, Prestidigitation, Mending, resistance(4+specialization)

1- Alarm, Color Spray, Color spray, Mount(2+Int bonus+specialization)[/sblock]

Elise, if I may, how came you to focus on one school, do you not miss the study of all the arcane mysteries. I for one see them as notes in a harmonious melody or chapters in a well written prose. Take any bit away, and does not the whole suffer?

Elise takes a moment to ponder this question. One she has had to think of before. In Medibaria one of my instructors told me, when I first started, "Elise, A true master is one that can put all of herself in what she believes in, and none in what she doesn't." To that end, when I studied at the academy, I put most of my focus in Abjuration and illusions and divination. Those are the schools that call to me, that feel right. To fit the extra time I dropped all studies of enchantment and necromancy. Had I not I still wouldn't be casting those spells. As wondrous as they are, I have no desire to control the living or the dead. It has always seemed to be a dark road to start down.

"No, I'm afraid I have not." Krit replies, "May I ask as to why you inquire?"

Well, someone said they wanted to her about how the first "job" I took went. Perhaps even the particulars of the events. I figure it would pass the time.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Great, I had an extenstive messge written which has now disappeared. I will cover the relevant details. There is no need to wait for your turn in the initiative to post, if other actions or consequences of those actions would change your posted action you may post modified actions.[/sblock]

Krit moves next to Elise and does not see anything besides the natural environment. Elise moves slightly nearer the newly heard threat and prepares to cast a spell at the first attacker.

[sblock= ooc]OoC getting up = move action, and as I do not have +1BaB I need another move action to draw weapons.
Ooc = SD have you used my spot check, or do you want me to roll a new one.
Also something I remembered Ces can take a double watch as he only needs 4Hours of trance [/sblock]

As the sound reach Ces mind he quickly gets up and draws both his weapons.
what the..

Please do tell

Interesting tale, Cesurius. Indeed greed seems to be the downfall of many a ma...., Gilanthus pauses when he notices Krit and Elise raise their eyebrows, ...er, person.

Indeed but that is only the obvious moral, think of this who is to blame for what happened. Maybe they were in their right to case him away, but in the end it was their own lack of compassion that turned a good man in to an evil man, doesn’t it show that we have a certain responsibility to those around us.

And Gil sad but true, they were elves [/sblock]

Having heard the rathering alarming sound of swords being drawn, Ces quickly jumps up and scans his surrounds, he sees nothing but his rather alarmed companions.

[sblock=OOC] Well nothing has been hurt yet, but then we still haven't finished a full round, just waiting on Sirhahn's post and maybe we'll find out what lurks in the shadows. [/sblock]

Formatting Posts

I really like the continued conversation, and I want to encourage it. To that I end I propose the following formating guidelines.

Current Action

Preface the current action with the title at size 3 centered in the middle, as seen in this example. Include this preface even if your post is entirely dedicated to the past conversation. If the post is entirely dedicated to the past conversation include a single line with the characters '///' centered in the middle.

///

Past Conversation

Preface the past conversation with the title at size 3 centered in the middle, as seen in this example. You do not need to include this section unless your post relates to the past conversation. Please quote the post you are responding to so that the continuity can be maintained.

[sblock=OOC]Include a single OOC section at the bottom that contains all of your OOC comments for the entire post. In effect, you should require at most a single sblock in your post. Do not feel constrained by this however if there is a need for other sblocks. For example, you are making your actions out of view of the other PCs, or are speaking in a language other than common, etc.[/sblock]

When posting a link to invisiblecastle try to use the link provided by invisible castle. Instead of showing the invisible castle link it will format it to show actual dice result.

Current Action

Gilanthus snaps out of his trance upon hearing Elise and Krit and tries to quickly survey the surroundings trying to note his companions and their surroundings.

[sblock=OOC]
Double move (one to get up from prone, two to quickly survey the entire 360 degree area noting the locations of his companions)
Spot check (WIS +3) (1d20 + 3=6)
Listen check (WIS + 3) (1d20 + 3=12)
If he Spots or hears Elise, Ces and the potential hostiles, Gil takes a 5 foot step away in which ever direction puts the most space between himself and the potential hostiles.[/sblock]

Gilthanus snaps out of his trance, he sees the Krit has moved next to Elise to investigate the noise. Cautiously he takes several steps back. Cesurius as stands up and draws his weapons.

Every member of the group having their rest interupted, now stands prepared for whatever threat presents itself.

Round 2:
Krit
Elise
Giltanus
Cesurius

-----

Let me give a more detailed description of the situation. The resting adventurer's had camped in area free of underbrush roughly 10ft to a side. The surrounding area include a couple of trees, but is mostly brush and boulders. A medium sized person could crouch to receive partial cover from these obstruction, at over 30 feet away it would provide total cover. Elise and Krit are about 20 feet away. Ligeia has noticed, but has not mentioned it, a motion perhaps an additional 20 feet ahead. Left of that line, about fifteen feet from Krits current position, about 10 feet away from Elise's current position, originated the group of swords being drawn.

-----

At the end of round 1 Elise notices movement about twent feet from her in the driection away from the camp, but despite her dancing light she cannot make out what it is. Ligeia hears some whispered commands from the same direction.

So begins round 2
