For those of you who can't be bothered to follow it :D

EGM)But even when the final product hits the shelves in November, only New Line and EA will know which plot elements were created from scratch and which are based on actual footage Peter Jackson shot but still hasn't seen the light of day. "They're really protective of that footage," Gray says, "because obviously, they want to make the extended (italics EGM) extended versions someday--in a trilogy box set or whatever. They want to keep the franchise alive for years to come."...........Thousands of movie production photos line the walls, and hours of footage from the films--some of it not even included in the special extended editions--fill artists' hard drives.

If this is true it looks like Peter Jackson is playing catch up with Lucas in how many versions of a film you can make :)

I actually wouldn't be surprised, if they added something extra to the extended trilogy super collector's edition.

It surely wouldn't be as much as in the individual extended versions, but at least some goodies.

The whole DVD merchandising sale was planned from the beginning (I guess that's standard these days), so they have cut the movie with that in mind already (it's not like the stuff from the extended editions has been left out of the movies, because they would have been too long, but rather because it was specifically made for the DVD market), and it's kinda obvious, that there will be a full trilogy version of the extended DVDs someday.

Bye
