Even with the short jokes and shield sliding and far-too-quick-to-be-effective attack on Orthanc.
The Ents pretty much dominated Orthanc in the book as well. I think only one Ent was seriously wounded.

I don't need to see Ents getting hurt, I just need more time to see the attack (and the march to it). Time is all I'm talking about. Not Enty death.

Forgive my iggnorance but who is Huorns?

As Staffan said they are Ents that have gone tree-ish as Treebeard says. they are wilder than ordinary Ents...they dont hate all two legged life(though some of them do) but they dont really have the Ents friendly streak. they also have strange powers...they apear to be able to wrap themselves in shadow and move unseen...and to..swallow things. a troop of orcs that went into a thicket of Huorns was never seen again...not even remains.
The omission of the Huorns is one thing I forgave the movie actualy...I never thought they'd put it in the theatrical version...I assumed they figured they'd be to much for the general public to handle :-) Now if they just make Treebeard by the wise and incredibly knowledgeble being he should be, I might really like the whole thing. The Ent stuff was what really made me made. Treebeard is not stupid...he knew all about Saruman...and they should have had the Ents get involved immediately, as they did in the books.

The idea that Gandalf wouldn't tell the Ents about what Saruman did to the trees (something he personally witnessed when he was imprisoned atop the tower) strains my suspension of disbelief! If they simply never met Gandalf, the movie makes sense. If the Ents had knowledge of Saruman's deeds beforehand, the movie makes sense. As I saw it at the theater, the movie didn't make sense.

In other words, I hope he cut some scenes that were in the movie to resolve the contradiction, not just add more stuff to confuse the issue further!

Aaargh!

If people are going to take perfectly normal LOTR threads and turn them into bash sessions, could they at least warn us with all caps or something?

As one of the 95% or so of the world's population that (gasp!) enjoyed the movie (and around $700 million worldwide to back that position up) I thought we were done with these petty discussions of how your life was ruined by Peter Jackson.

Maybe a new forum rule on thread hijacking or something that addresses the rabid purists' faction?

D00d what do you expect from gamers? They nitpick the hell out of everything, complain about how they could have done it better, blah, blah.

I mean, love my hobby but I HATE the fandom.

HAAAAAAAAATE.

Sorry to get a little off topic, but how does the Ents knowing that Saruman is tearing up the trees make sense? As I saw the movie, the Ents did not act until Merry and Pippin lead Treebeard to Saruman's tower and he sees what Saruman did. Thats when the Ents act, so to me its clear that they did not know until they were shown by the hobbits.
