Low-Level Story Hours?

Quasqueton

First Post
I love reading Piratecat's story hour (to give you an idea of what I like). It is very high level. I've heard some good reviews of other story hours, but they too are all high level.

I'm looking to read an equally good lower-level story hour too. Something less than 10th level at most. Something with a little in-game history to the characters, and something with at least moderately heroic characters.

Any suggestions?

Well, mine's still at low-level, though they're nearing the 10+ level point pretty soon. JollyDoc's Shackled City starts at first level, but it also has reached above the 10th level by now.

Have you tried reading the beginning (first half, probably) of Wulf's?

That's a great suggestion.

Just stop reading right at the end of The Standing Stone.

Hell, I still wish I'd stopped writing right about there, anyway. ;)

Link is in the sig.

Plug for our story hour

This one has just started but the author has a few months of updates in the can that he's posting at a good pace. I'd say it's a good story hour, but I'm biased because I play in the game. It starts off at 1st level, is based in the Scarred Lands and is all about being heroic (well, at least later on). I think it has good character development (especially the authors character).

Company of the Random Encounter by Capellan (sp?) starts out at good-ol' first level. It's incredibly detailed, so you will be reading for a long time before the PCs reach the mid-level mark.

Capellan also writes another great story hour, In Hextor's Name, although the main character in that one might not fit your definition of heroic: he's a half-orc cleric of, well, Hextor. :D

You should try my "Out of the Frying Pan" story hour. . . We've been playing every 2 weeks for 3 years and as far as the story hour has gotten the characters are about 7th level.

It is good low level low-power gaming goodness, if I do say so myself. . . With characters who are heroic despite overwhelming odds and things often going against them. . .

Check the sig.

Well, Of Sound Mind the Halfling Way (linked in my sig) is a low-level halfling game I run... currently, the highest-level pcs are 3rd. And they're a clan of halflings. With a dog (kobold) and an adopted human.
