Lucas compares Revenge to Titanic?

Titanic sounds about right. We know what's going to happen, just not the details of the story...and its definitely supposed to be an emotional one. Whether Lucas will pull it off is another thing, but the trailer with Obi-Wan screaming "You are the Chosen One!" with tears in his eyes helps it...

And yes, definitely the kind of success he's like. :)
I could have sworn it was "you WERE the chosen one!" indicating that anakins behevior had pretty much excluded him from any position of "chosen."

I didn't cry when watching the Titanic or even nearly cry as I have watching some movies. I'm not sure what to make of this quote I guess I'll just have to see the movie to figure it out.

I'm not gonna pretend I'm all mister tough guy or anything like that, but Titannic elicited practically no emotional response from me. It was kinda morbid to watch the ship sink and all the people die, but it wasn't tearful.

Now Braveheart, on the other hand, makes me cry 'til my eyes hurt. Heck, even the LotR movies make me cry, but certainly not Titannic.
Pfft. Braveheart is a typical guy's movie. And I didn't cry because the ship sank - those were only extras, anyway. :)

(And no, I haven't seen Titanic twelve times, or any number approaching that. I saw it twice. Cried once. There you have it.)

Considering his ham-fisted attempt to depict a blossoming romance in AotC, I don't have much hope that Lucas will jerk any tears.

Not in the way he intends, anyway...some of those "love scenes" in AotC were downright hilarious.

Whatever. I want more Star Wars, and it's coming soon.

So wait...is Lucas saying that RotS is a chick flick?

Agree wholeheartedly on both accounts.

I cannot watch the torture scene at the end of Braveheart without tearing up. Just can't.

Oh, I know. But I was also quite unmoved by Leonardo di Caprio sinking as well.

As for Braveheart, well there you have it. I'm a typical guy. ;) I also get a bit teary at Die Hard and The Great Escape. ;)

OK, yeah, that was exaggeration...

At the expense of sounding like a broken record, I'll offer my thoughts.

Let's remember who we're dealing with here. We're dealing with George "Doesn't know anything about human drama" Lucas who draws an improper parallel in describing emotional content. I suspect that a more appropriate comparison would have been with Return of the King or The Wrath of Khan in which there's plenty of heart felt, powerful emotional content driven by human elements. That's what he probably means (but doesn't know how or decided not [see below] to say) given the nature of this story. It's not a romance (that was the last film... sort of... Well, should have been), but the dark chapter that heralds the fall of the Republic.

Also, consider that he wants people to rush to see this film. Bringing up Titanic is an excellent way to raise eyebrows even if it's a poor comparision. 'Course, he may (and probably is) shooting himself in the foot since I doubt that this film will have the same emotional impact - melodramatic though it may have been - as even Titanic much less like my other examples.

Yeah, I know what you mean. JD's just never gonna be convincing as a tough guy.
Doesn't mean I won't keep trying. But the soft, sensitive side of me just keeps shining through. :D

Hey, do you have any openings left in the pathetic puppy GM's club, or whatever you called it? :p

It is "were". Ignore me being tired at noon.

And The Serge, you know my stance on these things. :)
