Luminous Armor + Magic Vestment... really?

How would it matter upon interpretation? If MV enchants clothing, the MV and the LA are each granting an armor bonus to AC, right?

No, they don't both grant an armor bonus. One is an armor bonus, the other is an enhancement bonus to an armor bonus. Those are explicitly different as the rules I linked to show since they are different modifiers.

What would need interpreting is whether the enhancement bonus being applied to something with a +0 armor bonus might stack with non-armor that does provide an armor bonus. For example, could a monk with Bracers of Armor benefit from Magic Vestment cast on his clothes? Depends on how one interprets the rules.

For what it's worth, the 3.5 FAQ somewhat answers this with the following:

I have a bard in my game who has a bit of money to
spend. She buys a set of bracers of armor +3 and a suit of +3
leather armor. If the bard wears both at the same time, the
armor bonus from the bracers (+3) overrides the armor
bonus from the leather armor (+1). Our question is, does
the +3 enhancement bonus from the armor still get applied
for a total of +6, is it subsumed by the magic of the bracers,
or is it just ignored completely? Since the enhancement
bonus and armor bonus are different types of bonuses, the
bard thinks her total Armor Class bonus should be +6.

The magic leather armor’s +3 enhancement bonus applies
to make the armor’s armor bonus bigger (+4 in this case). The
example character uses only the larger armor bonus (+4) when
wearing both the armor and the bracers.
The overlapping +3 bonus from the bracers is still there,
however. (It is just irrelevant most of the time.) If something
bypasses the +4 bonus from the magic armor, the bracers might
still prove effective. For example, an incorporeal touch attack
bypasses the whole armor bonus from the magic armor. Since
the bracers provide a force effect, they protect the bard against
the incorporeal touch attack. The example character still has a
+3 armor bonus against the incorporeal touch attack.

I say "for what it's worth" because many people do not consider the FAQ factually accurate or even useful due to it being hit and miss, as well as contradictory at times. Your mileage may vary. In this circumstance it's perfectly reasonable and keeps the balance of the game where one would expect it to be, so even if the character was wearing clothing that could benefit from MV, it would not stack with LA.

What clothing? This is a VoP Wildshaped druid into bear/wolf form that has been giving me headaches for a while now.

True, but I was asking specifically if Magic Vestment could be cast on Luminous Armor.

And you got your answer: no, they can't be used together in the circumstances this PC finds himself in. In fact, you can't even cast Magic Vestment since there's no armor or shield to target.

In general, though, the spells "stack" (you can add their bonuses), if you cast MV on your shield and use LA to replace body armor. However, Vow of Poverty doesn't allow possession of a shield iirc.


BTW, you might want to outright ban Book of Exalted Deeds content. It's simply more headache than it's worth (as you are discovering).
