Lunar the Remastered Collection

GreyLord

Legend
This was one of my favorite RPG games ever made. Loved it. I never played the original on the Sega CD, but I have the Sega Saturn version, the Playstation 1 version (both of these have SS and EB), the PSP version, and the GB version. To say that I really like the game is an understatement.

There has been some grief recently as the remastered version just came out and it seems it sold out on Amazon in a few hours. It was sold out of the PS4 version by Noon EST seemingly, and the Switch version by 6PM EST. They then sold out of the Xbox version today.

So...I gritted my teeth and went to Amazon. It was on Amazon.co.uk and I got it for relatively cheap, or so I thought. I'm puzzled though, did I pick up the legitimate version of it? It wasn't half as expensive as I thought it would be, and it seemed to be relatively available.

Anyways, to those who are in the US and are fretting (not that there are any other Lunar fans besides me here, but in case there are), as of an hour or two ago, it seemed like it was very available in the UK. I have no idea if there will be import charges or what for it coming into the US with what the situation going on (as you would know it), but if you want to try it, it's available for the Playstation.

I played, completed, and loved both Lunar 1 and 2 (Silver Star Story Complete and Eternal Blue) on PSX back in the day. The Working Designs localisations were wonderful and the cloth map boxed sets certainly didn’t hurt.

Since then, I’ve occasionally gone back and tried the remakes (Lunar Legend on GBA and Silver Star Harmony on PSP, not to mention Lunar SSC* on iOS) and I’ve never really been able to engage with any of them, though they’re all fine. The new intro sequence on SSH wasn’t necessary, in my opinion. So sadly I don’t think I’ll be buying this new version, though it’s nice to see Eternal Blue get some love this time too.

*Very similar to the PSX version but not identical, entirely different voice actors and singing.
