Lunge Attack

So, it's a bit weird that knocking an enemy prone and shifting away makes you invulnerable, when either closer or further would let them attack. How about a Lunge action to fill the gap?

Lunge - Standard Action
Move one square and make a melee basic attack.

So it doesn't get the attack bonus a charge gets, and it's not a shift, so it would provoke. But it does stop the area two squares away from a prone creature from being a ring of safety. What do you think?

I'd allow it for the exact reasons you mention.

It has never come up in the games I run, but that safety ring is really ridiculous.
 

Pretty solid idea, I know in a few cases the enemies would have to waste action points in order to not be manhandled by our group, and even then a well placed immobilized has ended battles.

I do like this idea for a rule that could be added depending on the game.
