[M&M2e] Red Sands Chronicles

"Not at all," Deezy rambled as she frantically paged through map displays showing an eyestraining variety of waypoints and terrain markers. "We're...heading for...Setenza! And you don't have to worry about US. We've got some guards, but nothing that could take on that monster." She laughed. "Then again, what could?" Curiosity drove her to add, "How did you get a hold of that thing anyway?"

"Not at all....We're...heading for...Setenza! And you don't have to worry about US. We've got some guards, but nothing that could take on that monster." Deezy laughed. "Then again, what could?"

"Setenza? Then your guards should be advised to keep on alert while passing near Hecates Tholus. Several days ago Odyssey encountered some raiders while passing through the Galexias. We were able to keep them at bay, however last night we hear a distress calls from some unlucky bastard they attacked."

[sblock=Seif and anyone with a map or familiar with Martian Geography]
The Galexias is a region located north or Elysium Mons and North West of Hecates Tholus. The Planned route will take the group through this region.

"How did you get a hold of that thing anyway?"

"We scavenged it from Gustav crater."

The Ottoman outstretched his arms violently, and the bubbles exploded in a burst of steam. Mist covered the place...

"Good," grinned Seif. "I will watch from the edge. Keep you informed."

He hopped off his perch, across the giant barrel-arm and then down to the ground, before quietly scrambling towards the edge of the cliff. A shame even aether-born mist worked both ways...

"Setenza? Then your guards should be advised to keep on alert while passing near Hecates Tholus. Several days ago Odyssey encountered some raiders while passing through the Galexias. We were able to keep them at bay, however last night we hear a distress calls from some unlucky bastard they attacked."

"Could be our target," theorized Seif with the usual sinking feeling that it was. He lay on his belly at the cliff's edge, camel crouched besides him: "Ask where, Klatta, where."

Below, the mega-crawler... crawled by.

[sblock=OOC]Seif will automatically inform the party of any move the mega-crawler caravan makes. He'll use Desert Ambush to hide hiself, his camel and anybody else who'd like to join him on overwatch.[/sblock]

"I'm right behind you." states the Ottoman and moves along the way, silently. His soft steps and silent grace betrays the new self he is trying to sell: He's still a good assassin.

"Distress call...that's a sad thing. Maybe we can help them out if it's not too far out of our way. Did you get a fix on their location?"

Brian, never especially comfortable with conversation, decides to join the lookouts. He doesn't mention his special senses, but figures they might prove handy...

Seif looked greeting to both men before off-handedly offering a desert-weave blanket to the Ottoman.

"Red and white," he explained, refering to the man's clothing. He kept his eyes (mostly) facing the crawler, not wishing to offend.

"Distress call...that's a sad thing. Maybe we can help them out if it's not too far out of our way. Did you get a fix on their location?"

"East of Hectate, so if you're able to see us it should take you anywhere between 9 to 12 hours to get to them. That is assuming your pilgrimage is using an off roading vehicle and not ridding camels."

OOC: I'm assuming the 'scouts' are using the binoculars

There is a lot of activity on the mega crawler as it passes directly before the road junction. You are able to tell that it has a total of four small turrets which are placed on each corner of the machine's top deck. This deck has small railing as well as anchorage for an airship. There are several look outs standing on top of this deck and are scanning the horizon as if looking for group's caravan.

The mega crawler appears to have two deck levels. The main deck has one small room like cab on it's front left and rear right corners. This raised deck is located above each of the crawler's treads. The lower deck consists of the regions towards the center of the crawler and appears to be raised about twelve feet off the ground, however the mega crawler only appears to have about eight feet of clearance underneath it.

The turrets remind of of the tanks created during the first Great War by the Britons and later used by the valiant Afghans in the protection of their lands from the Imperialist crusaders during the later half of that century.

Due to the size of the turrets, you suspect that like the turrets from those ancient war machines the crawler's turrets are not machine powered and instead are rotated by using a hand crank.

There is no way the turret's cannons can fire at any non-aerial threat within short range of the mega crawler. However this deficiency maybe resolved if the crew were able to mount firearms at various spots along the crawler's railing.

You can see one heat signature in the crawler's cab.
[/sblock]

In all, the mega crawler is being escorted by four armored light crawlers. These crawlers are so heavily armored that its windows are reduced to slits. Each of these crawlers have what appears to be a raised hatch on its roof.
[sblock=Brian]
From the looks of the heat signatures, each of the escort crawlers seem to have a two or three man crew. They seem to be using a similar set up as the caravan is using: One driver, one spotter, one extra person.

The desert man reached for his camel radio, dragging it close to his mouth, not taking his eyes off the vehicles and the men below for an instant. "They ignored a distress call, Klatta. Their need is great. Ask what it is," he counseled before clicking it back in place...... "Any here think we are NOT 'Traveller One'?"

The Ottoman frowns, "The crawler's turrets are not machine powered... The are rotated by using a hand crank most surely. But if you want to assault the big fish, you got to eliminate the lampreys first." and he points at the armored smaller crawlers.
