D&D 5E (2014) M:TG Kaldheim = Viking campaign book?

South Asia is more likely to be Kaladesh. Kaladesh unfortunately is going to be a while out ...
It already has a Plane Shift document. I don't know if they're likely to go back and make full-length books for the settings that are already in Plane Shift.

I would like a Plane Shift D&D article for viking Kladheim
And conversely, I don't think they're making Plane Shift articles anymore. At least, they haven't done any since they started releasing full-length books for M:tG settings.

In the past I suggested to add cybertronians(transformers) as guest artists in Kaladesh, at least as April's Fool.

Innistrad and the demiplane of the dread aren't the same one, but they could be good neighboors. Dark Powers can cause lots of troubles out of the demiplane.

I wouldn't be too surprised if Hasbro/WotC buys the trademarks by broken videogame studios or 3PP publishers.

I would be shocked if the plane shift Zendikar precluded a full Zendikar D&D book, given that it's tied with Ravnica for most popular planes. Innistrad though I agree that while it's in the top tier of popular planes (as demonstrated by the fact that they're revisiting it Very Soon), the thematic overlap with Innistrad/Ravenloft will keep it away. However, I'm inclined to agree that Kaladesh is not terribly likely to get more than the plane shift, but I also think that if WotC decided to do a south asian themed setting book it would be Kaladesh.

Standing by though with my theory that they revisit Tarkir by the end of 2022 and publish a D&D book to go with it.

Yeah, I think it likely that Tarkir will be on the slate sooner rather than later. As much as I love the Norse legends, I think Tarkir would be the more unique setting - after all, so much of D&D's DNA already comes from Norse tales. That being said, people at Wizards might play Assassins Creed: Valhalla and get super-excited for it.

The old 2e Vikings Campaign Sourcebook is still a great resource, and one of my favorites of old.

I always thought Innistrad was supposed to be their idea of a Lovecraftian-style setting. Never really equated it with Ravenloft; and every Magic set has had vampires.

@JPL - though it wasn't a setting per se, a long time ago M:tG had the Mirage block which kind of had an African feel to it.

If they're doing a Norse-based setting, I wonder if they'll bring back a bunch of Ice Age cards.

I'm guessing Theros meets Ice Age, with some new twist maybe.

As to Innistrad, the Lovecraft stuff is in there, but it's secondary to the general Horror stuff. It's no more like Ravenloft than Mystsrra is like the Forgotten Realms, I wouldn't want to see them amalgamated.

I find Innistrad to be more ‘White Wolf” than either Lovecraft or Ravenloft. Its got all the horror tropes (Vamps, Werewolfs, Witches, Ghost, Mad Scientist, Angels, Demons and creepy dolls) factionalised and bulked up for a ‘War game’ and if you just do that it could slip along the scale towards Ravenloft.

MTG then adds the Eldrazi into the mix as the source of its madness, which is very Lovecraftian, and thus pushing the scale in that direction - but I think that can be ignored and the traditional horror emphasized

Planeshift: Innistrad makes it seem like humanity is hopelessly outgunned. You're surrounded by well-entrenched Universal monsters; also demons; and Cthuhlu just showed up; and basically God just went crazy and sent the Church and the angelic hordes out to attack you. That could all be dialed down a couple notches to something a bit less apocalyptic, a bit more mysterious and shadowy.
