M1: Just a Treasure Hunt?? (Bront Judging)

Corran prepares himself to follow Gregory belowdeck to see the map. I'm sure it's just Genithar's enthusiasm for the hunt. It's not that he doubts your word, but that he can't wait to learn about our quarry.

[sblock=Genitharand Corran]The captain sleeps by him self in the aft castle. Under the aft castle is where Gregory takes you. The room is contains a set of bunk beds, 2 wardrobes, 2 chests, a table and 4 chairs. Gregory pulls out a key he keeps tied around his neck and unlocks one of the chests and starts to rummage through it. He pulls out a scroll case and carefully removes its contents. He slowly opens the map and says "Care now this is very old." then pointing to the map he says "This is Stormreach here." then pointing to a smaller circle drawn on to the map This is where our treasure is. I estimate the trip to take 3 days. I got this information while I was working for Morgraive University. I did most of the research using their library. I have a contact who speaks the native tongue of the Drow who inhabit that area. He has arranged a meeting for us to bargain for a guide. I will elaborate more on this once we arrive in town.” [/sblock]

As he approaches the door he is stratled by something and moves away quickly.[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc] I thought Corran and Thral'K came with? Is Genithar there with them? Or only Gregory?[/sblock]

Standing with his employer, Genithar is very interested in his words and, with out touching it, though obviously he wants to, the Wizard's eyes fairly devour the map.

The elf also mentions off handedly, 'My elvish language skills may help us there as well. Maybe some of the other's speak elven as well, we should ask them.'

[sblock=Know Checks]
Searching the map and attempting to date it using know: history. Is there any language written on it?
Search (1d20+5=23)
Know: Hist (1d20+5=19)

My apologies I left him out. My bad. It is fixed now.

[sblock=Genithar]The writings our in a language you do not recognize but can probably guess it to be a dialect of Giant I hope so although I dont not think Elven to be their perfered tongue since they think they were abandoned and all. But , who's to say really?[/sblock]

[Sblock=all] I am sorry for not mentioning it earlier but I will make all the rolls myself. To save time and energy. I plan to use actual dice and not the site. because those numbers, although transparent to us, are not really randum.[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc] I'm totally cool with the rolls, I'll just state my action and my bonus/minus. Also, Mel, Genithar speaks Giantish, does that help with the Map?[/sblock]

The Wizard peers more closely at the Map, attempting to make sense of the writing (Decipher Script +6), while he mutters, 'Hmmmm, a different culture and species all together, yes? How very interesting, I wonder if there are any studies regarding them....'

I'm afraid I won't be much use with deciphering this, but it's good to have a view of our hunting ground. The more we know, the more likely we are to be successful, he says, a gentle, respectful reproach in his tone.
He turns to Genithar. How much do you know of your dark-skinned kindred? Anything you could tell us might be useful if we encounter them on their territory.

Still scrutinizing the map, Genithar seems almost completely lost in his work, absent mindedly mentioning to his friend, though easily falling into a lecturing tone, 'I don't know a lot, only the History, really. Truly, the Dark Skinned elves were only legends until about 30 years ago. From my studies I've found that when the Aerani, the elves of the Island nation Aerenal, left Xen'Drick as the Cataclysm that destroyed the Giant's Empire or Empires came down, some elected to stay. Thus the people were split and two cultures emerged. I don't know much of this Xen'Drick culture, and if the tails are to believed, which personally I do, they ARE elves, no matter what anyone might say.'

The lizard listens, saying nothing. It looks at the map, trying to garner if it knows anything about the depicted regions.

OOC: Kn (geo) and Survival checks. The lizard is mum on other things, but keeps listening.
