"Yes, that's right. Quite ordinary strings, really. The magic is in the musician, as you well know." says Balmorrow.

"I do indeed. I've often had the privilege of singing to the accompaniment of a master lutenist. Me, my only instrument is my voice."

Dinner over, the group begins practicing for the evening session. Phyllis and Willis are evidently wizards, and speak of how they will use their Ventriliquism, unseen servent, mage hand and such when the act is for real. The dog follows Nurlan and Mordik around, silently and non-threateningly, but keeps its intelligent eyes on the duo.

Balmorrow retreats back to his study after dinner. He emerges with his lute, which he is studying. "Say, " he asks the group as they practice. "One of my lute strings is missing. Anyone seen it? Could I have broken one, removed it, then forgotten to replace it?" He stands, hand on chin, thinking.

"Oh, I, er, broke one accidently when I was practicing on it. Sorry, er, You do have some extra somewhere don't you sir?" says Wilbur, reddening. Wilbur is the young lover discovered that morning. "You hadn't used it in awhile, I had hoped to replace it myself before you noticed. Sorry."

"Wilbur! This is a valuable instrument! You know better than to use it without my permission. I may have another around. Let me have a look. But you'll be sweeping the floors tonight!"

Balmorrow retreats back to his study. Wilbur looks very embarrassed, and goes back to work.

Nurlan listens intently to the conversation between Balmorrow and Wilbur while trying not to reveal his curiosity. I shall have to talk some more with Wilbur, see if he'd have a motive and see who his accomplices might be, he thinks. But that will wait until after tonight's performance, lest he seem suspiciously inquisitive.

The performance is fairly well attended. The audience mostly consists of fishermen and famers, though various other sorts seem present. The program is well done. Willis and Phyllis do their tricks, mostly for laughs. Balmorrow performs on several stringed instruments, and incorporates some sight gags and prat falls.

Nurlan and Mordik can RP their performance, or simply make a perform check. Unless you have more on your agenda, feel free to skip to after nightfall, when the crew is cleaning up.

I didn't have anything special planned for this gig, so let's do it the short and sweet way: Perform (sing) 9+9=18. Worthy of applause, although not his most memorable.

During the cleanup, if Nurlan can get a moment with Wilbur without seeming to be actively hunting him -- he'll start up a conversation when Wilbur happens to be the nearest person, as if he might as well have asked anyone else.

"Say, you know Mordik and I just got into town last night. Since it looks like we'll stay a little while, have you got ay suggestions for us?"

Wilbur

"Oh. Well, there's not much to do in this town. I mostly like to hang out here at the theater. We have three meals a day together. There's some good crab hunting, they say. What do want to do?"

"I don't know. I've never tried crab hunting. As you say, I've noticed there isn't a lot to do. First time I've been to Three Rings, although I spent a little while in Monemvassia earlier this year. You ever been there? Much larger city."

Oops... Forgot this thread was waiting for me.

"Monemvassia? One or twice. I was born here. Feels more comfortable here. I know most everyone in this town."

"To each his own, as they say. Personally, I'm rather glad to have gotten the chance to move out from where I was born. I rather enjoyed Monemvassia, except for the corruption."
