So did any of you watch Jobs' keynote address? Apple has it on their website. It was impressive. I was blown away by their portable music marketshare. For those who didn't see it, on January 2004, the iPod had about a 32% marketshare, flash players had about a 61%, and iPod wannabes (as Jobs put it) about 7%. This month, the iPod has about a 62% or marketshare, flash players 32%, and the others down to 6%. Very impressive for one year. Then he introduced the iPod Shuffle, which should eat into that 32% flash market currently out there. I'm know I thinking of getting one for my wife.

The Mac Mini looks cool, but not enough RAM for me to get it. Nice entry-level Mac, though.

But man, I can NOT wait for Tiger. There's some cool stuff going on in there.

So what did everyone else think?

EDIT: I started a new thread because our main thread is getting crazy long.

Before you buy that new iPod, think of this:

iPod Shuffle = 512mb = $99
iPod Mini = 4gb (8x as much space) = $250 (2.5x as expensive)
iPod = 20gb (40x as much space) = $300 (3x as expensive)
iPod = 40gb (80x as much space) = $400 (4x as expensive)

I don't know about you, but if I was going to buy an iPod, I'd save up and get the 20gb or 40gb iPod. You get more for your money.

I like the Mini-Mac (just sounds better that way). A gig of ram is plenty for anything but really heavy work (ie. anything non-professional). At those prices. I'm sold, I really wish that Apple would at least give the option of better graphics cards for the low end macs, especially with CoreImage coming in Tiger (Will depend more heavily on graphics card). Especially considering that my old mac is a g4-400 (sawtooth) that would be at least $600 to upgrade to something equivalent. Plus if I do get something better, it'll make a great loaner computer for luring in the unsuspected.

Well, my wife wants something for working out. A full iPod is overkill and a little too bulky for that, plus I have access to one of those when I want it. I might consider saving up for an iPod Mini, but to save $150, I think the Shuffle is worth it. She doesn't need more than an hour's worth of music at a time, and that would off several hours. It's not the most cost-effective of the iPod line, but at $99, I think it's a good value for what we need.

It really is a matter of prefence and intended usage, though.
