Macromedia Dreamweaver Studio

I am thinking of buying Dreamweaver Studio for creating websites (as a hobby). I currently use Adobe GoLive, but either need to upgrade versions or try a new software. I chose not to upgrade Adobe GoLive because all of my previous Windows versions were so buggy. Sometimes unusably buggy.

Anyone have any experience with Dreamweaver?

As a student I can get the entire suite for 200 bucks.

I also want to use the graphics programs to modify photo's similar to Photoshop. Anyone see problems with this?

Great product! A bit of a learning curve, but well worth it. The graphics tools included with the MX Studio suite are good, but do not approach Photoshop for some functions. Recommended!

I am not really looking for the full functionality of photoshop as I only use it to resize and tweak my digital photos.

I have "lost" the original disk of photoshop and am putting together a new system, so I have to buy new.

You could just buy a Mac instead. iPhoto, which will let you edit photos to a limited degree, is bundled with Mac OS X. And GoLive CS was just announced yesterday.

The Dreamweaver MX studio is really very good, Dreamweaver MX itself in particular. It generates very clean HTML, and if you're into writing it yourself or tweaking it the code editor is excellent and there's nothing you can do that will confuse Dreamweaver about the HTML.

It also generates ASP/PHP/JSP/CFM code automatically. These aren't as clean as the HTML and Javascript it normally generates, but they do put a ton of power in your hands if you don't know anything about programming in those languages and aren't interested in learning.

Dreamweaver is also an exellent code editor for ASP/PHP/JPS/CFM: I used Microsoft InterDev for ASP for years but now I use Dreamweaver almost exclusively.

Oh, and it generates ASP.net stuff, too.

Fireworks MX is a very good web graphics editor, and is awesome for animated gifs in particular. Freehand MX is an excellent vector graphics application. Flash MX is, of course, an excellent Flash creation application. All in all the tools are really outstanding.

Highly recommended.

Dreamweaver Studio is an excellent choice, if you can afford it. I use Dreamweaver all the time, and while I use Photoshop, Fireworks is ample, and more, for what you need. Doesn't hurt to have Flash, either. But I use Dreamweaver (on my Mac no less! ) on a daily basis. Clean code, and not difficult to learn, especially if you have experience with GoLive.

I work on a mac and live with an Athlon at home.

I graphic design for a living(mac) and am learning Dreamweaver at home(pc).

Stinks when I keep trying to use the Alt key, after using the Open-Apple all day. Oy.

DW is great. Lots and lots of stuff to do. I'm still learning though. This is my first time attempting web design. It makes me head hurt. ow.



You might try the library to pick up some resources on it. They should be able to help you.
