Made your own plane?

Have any of you designed your own planes/demiplanes of existence for the D&D game with or without the MotP guidelines? Personally I am only in the process of dealing L-Space (of Discworld fame). So what are your ideas for planes?

I have, using the guidelines found in the MotP - a variant 'Faerie Realm' that was more in line with 'Brothers Grimm' than with 'pretty princesses and airy faeries' *chuckles*

I needed a Fae Realm that coexsited almost exactly with a variant of the British Islands, and I found the guidelines in the MotP to be very helpful :) *chuckles* Of course, I didn't really like /their/ idea of how the 'Fairies' should be dealt with, so I created my own ;) Mine are more along the nature of Infernals and Celestials - sort of that 'middle ground' where they represent the elemental forces that Druids tap into. I think it worked out fairly well, in my not so humble opinion.

I created my own cosmology from scratch with MotP. The Near Astral, Deep Astral, Shard Realms, Planes of Ascension, and the Outer Dark are examples.

"For in the Outer Dark lurk things more terrible than any God"

I used MotP guidelines to make up a Pulp Realm and a Film Noir Realm. I'm going to flesh both of them out, using the guidelines as a springboard. I also have a number of other realms (not exactly planes) planned, but not done yet.

Right now, I'm in the process of building a custom set of Elemental planes, based on the intersection of the four Elements (Earth, Air, Fire, and Water) with the five Elemental Energies (Fire, Cold, Acid, Electricity, and Sound).

The Elements and Elemental Energies each have their own planes, and then there are a bunch of demiplanes scattered around between them. (Some stolen from MotP or Planescape, some original) I've got demiplanes of Ash, Cloud, Dust, Fog, Frost, Glass, Magma, Mineral, Mist, Ooze, Radiance, Salt, Sand, Smoke, Sparks, Steam, Vacuum, Vapor, Wood, and anything else I come up with before I'm done.

After I do that, I'm planning on designing various demiplanes for the Deities in my world to inhabit.

The Demi-plane of Wood must have been easy with the Elemental Plane of Wood already present in the MotP ;)

We're not only designing planes without the MotP guidelines, but we've created our own set of OGL rules for planes. You can download them for free from here:

Netbook of Planes

Let us know what you think. :)
