Mage Knight Class, Please Help Balance, Spell List Added

Another thought, this time about Ride and Cast.

You might want to have Ride and Cast allow the caster to treat riding as a normal, non-disruptive casting environment. That is, no concentration check is required. You could progress to the by starting with bonuses (like you currently have), and moving up to no concentratin check required. It's not terribly overpowered, IMO, and could be a fun ability.

Hmm... That makes sense, that way instead of having a weak ability only for flavor it could actually be helpful. When would you say a good level for this ability would be? 11-13 or so?

Thanks for the idea

I'd consider it so minor that I'd throw it in around level 3-5, maybe even earlier. It lets the low-level Mage Knight do something that the other classes can't, without being overpowered.

okay how about,

3| Mounted Acane Riding
...
5| Leadership

Mounted Arcane Riding:
At third level the Mage Knight gains the ability to rida and cast spells without making a concentration check. This only applies if the mount is moving at double speed or less. If the mount is moving faster than double movement, the Mage Knight makes a concentration check as if the mount were moving at double speed. Basically, whenever a mage knight casts a spell from the back of a mount, subtract the twice the mounts movement rate from its current speed to determine the DC.

Leadership:
At fifth level the Mage knight gains the leadership feat. I don't have the exact detailos for leadership here but I was hoping for say two or three followers with classes. They would not level up by experience but rather whenever the mage knights leadership score improved enough to allow followers of higher levels. So the knight gets a few squires that he trains while he is adventuring. Using encounters as demonstrations.

How does that sound?

The mounted casting sounds fine, but I'd keep leadership at 6th level. Also, followers are (IMO) generally not intended to adventure with the PC, that's what Cohorts are for. Followers tend to get killed. I'd shy away from allowing a PC have his own personal 'PC Party'.

Followers, Cohorts I don't know the difference really. I'll read up on it when I get my books back. What about followers and cohorts at seventh that will show up provided the mage knight has a school/castle/keep that can be used as a training ground. I don't know what rules 3.5 currently has for keeps and strongholds. But I was thinking something kinda like the way they did followers 2e. As long as you got the keep you got followers that came. That is the kinda feel I have decided would be good for the mage knight. The Mage Knight is a lord over some bit of land and gets followers/taxes and all the rest. Not sure about rules here but the more i develop this class the more it loks like an npc class, which is fine cause I like the way it looks. So I will take a look into it.

Thanks for the feedback icy, you really have hekped alot.
