Magic Dust Question

Recently my character bought Dust of Disappearance and Dust of Tracelessness. During the session, the question was brought up: when does the dust get used up? My DM said it's a one-shot item, but I'm hesitant to agree because for that much money, it seems ridiculous that it would only work one time. What does everyone else think?

Damn. Well that sucks then. I'll have to talk to my DM about that. If it's a one shot item, it should be less expensive than that. I could buy scrolls of Invis for cheaper.

It's priced that way because it's harder than normal to detect, anyone can use it without regard to class or level or spell list, and there is no spellcraft check (as there is in scrolls occasionally) to cast it.

<shrugs>

Very useful but only in limited situations. Go back and read Dust of Disappearance a little closer for it's unique traits.

Scrolls are one shot items too. However, the dust of disappearence is improved invisibility, and cannot be detected by detect invisibility. That's a nice bonus.

The dust of tracelessness doesn't show up in a detect magic. It's another great item.
