Magic Item Creation...

Hmmm...40k is a bit out my characters price range. All I can afford is 13k. :(

Oh well, guess I just have to hope and roll high.

For that price you can get a +3 Cloak of Resistance, for a mere 16K you can get a +4 Cloak of Resistance. That will help considerably with your Will saves (and other saves for that matter).

Well, freedom of movement is probably a bit extreme. You could design an item that provided just immunity to that one specific spell. And the cost would be much cheaper.

/plug Of course, D20 mechanics can't do this very easily, but such a thing could be easily designed in Mystic Eye Games' Artificer's Handbook, coming in Mar/Apr. /plug

:)

If your DM is willing, you could modify the ring of freedom of movement to lower the price. If it's changed to a command-activated item usable twice per day, I'd say that 13k is not an unreasonable price.

Ha!, Tordek thought to himself. That dark priest thinks I'm paralysed for one round per caster level! But little does he know, all I need to do is say the command word, and...

... say the command word...

... damn you, treacherous lips! Move!

Well, yeah, there's that one minor drawback: you'd need to activate the ring before being hit with the hold. You get what you pay for.

It's hardly crippling, though, since Freedom of Movement lasts 10 minutes per level. You get 70 minutes of protection each time you activate the ring, so it's not going to run out in the middle of a fight.

Later on, when one has more money, have the ring made, and get it made intelligent, so it can activate itself. Of course, you'll need a special purpose, which would be best put as "Keep Wielder's Butt Alive".

But that gets expensive.
