Magic Item: Ring of Perminent Shield

While there were estimates varying wildly in this thread, it did seem like the average was around 20K. And, looking at the power level of 20K items, that seem about right to me on a "what do my instincts say" level.

I would rule that for that item, it would be as if it was a persistant shield spell for the level of spell in all cost calulations, but thats just my opinion.

That would be 7 x 13 x 2,000 gp, or 182,000 gp. That's way too much.

Ooops... forgot to divide by two since it has a 24-hour duration. Still, 91,000 gp still seems like too much.

Re: wand of shield. it is interesting to note that such an item is not listed in the SRD, and neither are wands of mage armor, expeditious retreat, longstrider, true strike, see invisibility, or arcane sight. I wonder why?

MY DM and I came up with a wondrous item that I called a Shield Plate. This iitem cast shield as a 3rd level caster and had unlmited uses. It uses a standard action to activate and lasts for 3 minutes. Because of its constuction (it was designed to attach to a warforged) it does not use a magic item slot. The price we came up with is 12000gp calculated as follows: [1st level spell x 3rd level caster x 2000gp (use activated - ht the plate)] x 2 (for no space liimitation).

The only question with the pricing really is how much to pay for the protection against Magic Missile.

The shield bonus is 16k, period.

How much is that protection really worth... btw... another way of pricing it would be .. more or less like a shield or an armor.. so the 4 bonus is still 16000.. but the protection against magic missile could count as a +1 bonus.. (only for the purpose of pricing THIS item) so it would be 5x5x1000 = 25000...
