magic item updated?

Is there a 3.5 edition of the encyclopedia magica out there? I'm having a hell of a time making judgement calls on 2nd ed items.

Specifically the "cowl of warding". Are there new stats for the thing?

Well, there's the Magic Item Compendium, but I don't think that's a direct equivalent, and the item name doesn't ring a bell.

If you could post what the 2e version of the Cowl does, there might be something similar already in existence in 3e.

Ok the item "cowl of warding" is rather stupidly powerful in 2nd ed ... ac1 saves as cloth +7,
acts as a greenstone amulet, has a spell immunity of wis 25( so all mind effects including and up to geas do not affect wearer), acts as ring of spell turning and a ring of free action.

Im guessing it has been coverted to at least minor artifact status.

A little Google Fu on the item turned up a mention that it was converted to 3E terms in Magic of Faerun, pg 156, but not in v3.5. The abilities given appear to be: continually protects wearer with mind blank, a constant effect similar to that of freedom of movement, and turns six spells per day as the spell turning spell. It apparently costs 200,800 gold.

I do not have Magic of Faerun with me at the moment, so I cannot verify that for a fact. Perhaps someone else could do so...

Hope This Helps,
Flynn

Yes, it's in Magic of Faerun, in fact pg 156. It's a (very expensive) wondrous item that does have those properties. I can't find any 3.5 version either, but I am slowly doing MIC-style listings for the items in MoF, so I'll get to it eventually.
