Magic Items That Improve Craft skills?

Gang, I'm of the opinion that magic item pricing is clearly an intrinsic part of the rules -- but that's no reason to insult another member for being brusque, and it's no reason to hijack this thread. I think it's a fine topic to discuss -- but please start a new rules thread to do so, instead of kidnapping Ogrock's. Even if it's Ogrock doing the kidnapping. :D

Anyways, Ogrock, as a DM I would let you create specific craft tools using the standard cost of improving skill checks. Such tools would then boost your skill checks accordingly. In general, the larger the bonus the less portable the tools might be.

Hmm, that's a good idea. I just made up a Ring of Crafting that gave a +5 competence bonus to Craft checks. But making larger items required for larger bonuses sounds like a good idea.

Also, in the new dragonlance:war of the lance book, the Master class can make items that enhance skill checks, from +2 - +10 iirc, depending on how high lvl it is. non magical from what i can tell. Or course, this is from memory and just got the book last night, and am at work now. if anyone else has it on hand, plz correct me. (off-topic, it seems like a darn cool class, can also make masterwork weapons up to +5 masterwork bonus, and seems to have bab progression of a cleric, and skill points like a rogue ).

There's also an item that gives bonuses to crafting in this month's Dragon; I noticed it in the article about Egyptian-themed magic items.

The Master class from the War of the Lance book allows masterwork weapons/armour with up to a +5 bonus. IMO, it's a great idea that helps reconcile the lesser availability of magic items with the need for decent equipment. Great idea!
